The Mars Volta guitarist releases 'free' internet album

The Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is offering a seven-track album as a free download through his website.

The release features former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, who has played on all five of The Mars Volta's studio albums.

"This album was recorded many years ago," explains Rodriguez-Lopez. "It is free to anyone who would like it, it also has the option to donate any amount you like. All proceeds will go to the Keep Music In Schools programs."
