Erm, what the hell? Are you seriously going to try and incorperate some Brutal Legend style storyline into Guitar Hero?! How can pressing coloured buttons to songs warrant a story. In any way?! This is like Dance Dance Revolution following a tale of a crippled boy as he overcomes his illnesses to dance in London's west end.
So....Rock Band 3, anybody?

Rock band 3 annouced a while ago they will have a keybord knowing guitar hero they will jump the band wagon
also little fact for maarrgghs brĂștle legend was orginaly gonna be a guitar hero style game where the combat would be guitar duels with your guitar hero contoller but they scraped the idea

Erm... have any of you played either games? Guitar Hero 5 takes a steaming dump all over any Rock Band game whenever I so much as look at the two of them. RB is simply HORRIBLE to play. I'm glad GH jump on the bandwagon and rip em off, cause they do it better, and I get to have more fun. Rad.
I agree with AlexW, I have been playing GH for about 2 years now and recently I had a go on my friends rock band game & it was rubbish! Also, you only have to slightly touch the button for it to play the note, which gets really annoying after a while. GH is better in so many ways, don't waste your money on RB. ;)

It's all personal taste. I vastyle prefer Rock Band because I prefer the visual style. It feels more professional. GH4 onwards felt like they were produced in a garage and, although they work fine, it just looks ugly. GH3 looked far better.
Sadly, GH will always try to be Rock Band. Although it's the more popular franchise, it makes a conscious effort to always one-up its competition, which usually ends with them falling flat on their face. Hopefully RB3's Keytar will encourage GH to focus on something else besides what RB are doing.
Also, need I mention Band Hero & GH: Van Halen? :P

k this seems like a step in the right direction for guitar hero as maarrghk is correct : band hero, dj hero and van halen were all shite and the set list on guitar hero 5 wasnt as good as 1-3 but this looks promising

Okay.
I don't get why I'd be impressed by that advert.

Yeah, em.. Guitar Hero is ripping rock band off even though Guitar Hero is the older and more established franchise. Granted there is a big back story to how the Rock Band production team was once part of the GH one or whatever. The fact of the matter is, Guitar Hero do what Rock band do, but they do it ten times better.
I enjoy Rock Band occasionally, the setlist is usually good. But that's all it has going in it's favour. The squares annoy me, and the drum kit is horrible to play in comparison to Guitar Hero's.
That said, I am quite annoyed with the frequency of Guitar Heroes being released at this point. I agree with all who say "WTF ANOTHER GH AGAIN LOLOL ROFLCOPTER NOOO". There's too many. Even I have had to pass on a few, even though I love the series because it was eating into my pocket. Rock band though, isn't far behind it. Soon they'll be doing the same thing, once Green Day fails for them (Cos in fairness, who wants to play the same three power chords over and over on Rock Band - FTR, I love Green Day, there's just not suitable for RB or GH).
That's just my two cents.
Essentially:
GH > RB
BUT:
GH are going overboard with releasing titles every months to make money. Seriously, don't release a game unless it's going to have an abundance of new & USEFUL features.

Maan,you're all wrong.)
I relly love GH franchise but the best GH that went out is GH3,it had a lot of good songs to be played and 2-4 times in a week i play gh3.
But when GH4 went out..it was only frustration, and you know why, because it had too many classic rock.I like classic but not so much as in GH4.
I don't even want to know what happened in GH5.
BUT rock band was cool as GH3 for me.RB2 was awsome a lot of modern bands and different styles of music,a lot of downloadable songs and the newest one....I was happy to play and sing such bands as TDWP and Underoath.
I agree just with one point of yours view that GH has better visual style than RB.
Will see what will happen in RB3 and GH6.

GH2 was easily the best of the bunch. GH3 and 4 where good - both enjoyable games and both had Rise Against tracks on them (Rise Against FTW). But i just couldn't bring myself to buy GH5 - it would ahve been a waste of money and thats the feeling i get off GH6

My opinion (in case anyone cares)
Rock band looks much much better and has a miles better track list and waaayy more downloadable content then GH has done recently, plus it doesn't churn out games every 6 months. But I much prefer GH anyday. The game play is soo much better as are the peripherals..I hate the rock band guitars, although GH has an annoying clickly strum bar. GH is just more hardcore and all round better...if they get back on track then they'll continue to be awesome.

Rock bands grpahics look really square and havnt the fluidity and movement of GH, take alook at GH metallica compared to RB Beatles or Green Day for that. As comparing copies of real life characters is easy to see.

As a big fan of GH I'm glad they continue making more. I've been waiting for the Green Day one for ages.
But while GH5 was well thought out, the setlist was not ideal. I'm a female singer and despite having loads of songs I can sing, only one song was by a female fronted band.
Rock Band wins for me, due to the fact I can sing more on it, and that I like the layout way more. Also, the vocal track is more true to the difficulty level.

I take it none of the Rock Band 3 bashers have seen the new Fender guitar with strings and frets. If you honestly think pushing 5 buttons will be better than pushing every single fret and string on a real guitar, you really need some help.
That's not even including the fact that you can unplug it and play it on a real amp.
