Iron Maiden have posted video footage of the latest incarnation of their mascot Eddie online.
"Eddie has changed a bit for this tour but is possibly the most outrageous one to date," bassist Steve Harris told Kerrang!. "I guarantee he will scare the hell out of you!"
Check out a clip below recorded last Friday (June 11) during the second date of the band's Final Frontier world tour in Houston, Texas and see for yourself!
Iron Maiden will return to Europe for a run of headline dates, including the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth, on August 1.

The new Eddie sucks. As a life long Iron Maiden fan, I think that nothing can touch the actual and original Eddie.
This looks like Eddie, overweight, in his 40's and has been lost in the swamp for days...just saying

Tbh, if you claim your a long life maiden fan and you dont appriciate the new Eddy, personally your not a real fan. Eddie has been reincarnated so many times! They made a futuristic Eddie. Honestly get over it.
Such an awesome new look for him! Long life Maiden fan myself and I would say that he looks brilliant :D

The new Eddie sucks just like their new boring long- plodding prog rock songs. The only Eddie i recognise is the one drawn by Derek Riggs who created him. Do people realise they sacked him? . Furthermore they wont play any classic hits live anymore..Maiden are a disgrace. Im suprised they have any fans left.

@Rick - you do realise they just played a whole tour lasting 2 years playing nothing but classics? So do you honestly blame them for wanting to play songs they havent played in ages. Besides, they do play hits at the end of the show, it's not as if they neglect them completely.
I think the new Eddie looks bad ass. Not as good as othr incarnations but still pretty cool

Rick is clearly one of those Maiden fan's who thought the 80's would just keep going on forever and spends his day listening to Number Of The Beast on repeat and talking about "the good old days"
Personally I'm a huge fan of the newer material, epic as hell. I think Brave New World and AMOLAD are amongst Maiden's best albums, so I'm loving the new setlist.
Please realise that they've done a greatest hit's setlist for Edward The Great and Somewhere Back In Time. Aswell as the Early Days tour that was all stuff from the first 4 albums. And the Brave New World and Dance Of Death setlists had plenty classics in them too.
I love the old Maiden stuff but honestly I'm sick of hearing RTTH, Trooper, FOTD, HBTN, Iron Maiden, Wrathchild, ETMD, etc etc etc etc etc etc at EVERY SINGLE FUCKING MAIDEN GIG!
The band are still making great albums, and to just ignore that fact and keep on playing the same setlist year in year out is frankly stupid.
I like getting to hear the new songs live, and a half dozen classics at the end is enough for me.

While this isn't a classic Eddie, it's certainly a fresh take on the character. Having spoken with Derek Riggs recently, & the chat will be on The Rock Show on 15 August, it's plain to see that the Iron Maiden organisation are trying to spruce up their new show. Which is absoultely right IMO. The band can't be stuck in the 1980's just for nostalgia's sake.
Now with that said, the clip shows Bruce singing the song, tune-perfect as per usual, but looking like he's going through the motions ; no spirit. I'm really concerned that The Final Frontier has possibly a hidden message that this could be the bands swan-song, & there won't be another new Iron Maiden album after this one. They don't need to create new music with the already stunning back catalog they already have, & which the fans will buy regardless.
Now, back to the point in question. This is the most animated Eddie I've ever seen, especially with the guitar playing aspect, the speed of movement around the stage, etc. A credit to the monster builders. It's a triumph, despite it looking like something from a real B-grade creature feature. But I'll concur with everyone else here; where's Eddie's face?? It's an icon in metal, & it's missing, quite frankly.
But when all is said & done, Iron Maiden don't have to do what the fans want them to do because they're Iron Maiden ... people will buy the merch, the albums, show tickets, etc. on the name alone. It's up to the general public to decide on whether they like it, hate it, or love it in their own time.
Let's see what reaction the new, & possibly last album, brings.
Fail on the predator Eddie and fail on the setlist. Looks like Maiden will be blaming slow ticket sales on the economy real soon. But that aint teh problme!
