Korn boycott BP

Following the catastrophic oil spill which has devastated the Louisiana coastline, Californian nu-metal heroes Korn have announced that they will not fuel any of their vehicles with BP petrol during their U.S. tour.

"We want to send a message to corporations like BP so that they will take more preventative measures in the future," says vocalist Jonathan Davis. "The more costly their punishment, the more money they will spend to make sure disasters like this don't happen again. It's plain and simple capitalism."

The problem is that unless you boycott all of the oil companies your not really sending "message" they're all capable of creating a disaster as bad as this and would all be as blazet as BP are being about the damage caused

Im old enough to remember the EXXON Valdez, same old same old if you ask me

Nothing will change unless we ween our selves off our addiction to oil.

Thanks Korn but its not going to do much apart from target a company that's the same as the rest of them

im sure BP are well worried when a shitty past it band refuse to use their fuel.

Pathetic i think there shit music pumps more toxins into the environment then the fuel.

Geet on with getting your overated band back on track you idiots.

Because, obviously, the US goverment who asked them to do a procedure that we're still on primitive technology for...have no responsibility for it, right?

Honestly, this can happen regardless of the measures you put in, it's harldy like BP don't care - they lose on their profit margin.

Besides - KoRn, as much as I like you, BP don't CARE if you stop using them.

Where does the plastic for your CDs, Guitars, Car, come from? Oh yes, oil...

It's plan an simple relative needs.

It would be good if boycotting wouldn't cause the people who own BP stations independently to go out of business, it doesn't really effect the higher ups. And also if they're boycotting on moral grounds they'd better stop using petrol altogether as they're all as bad as BP

Pathetic.

If they did their research "British Petroleum" is now an amalgamation of 2 US companies and 1 British.

The rig that blew was actually run by an American firm on their behalf, BP (It dropped the name British Petroleum years ago to enhance its multinational status-not that you will hear Obama say this) simply paid for the company to run it for them.

Its hypocritical of ANY American to slate any oil company- how many fat kids protest outside McDonalds?

Err who said this was an attack on 'British Petroleum' anyway?

kappa99 is the only one to mention the word British so far! Arguing with yourself or something?

That's just stupid.

no one said it was an attack on British Petroleum, however if you check through other sources and even the odd thing Obama has said about the situation then you'll find it's a bit of an attack on British Petroleum,

As a lot of people are viewing British Petroleum solely as a British company as if its Britains fault and America not taking any responsibility , as kappa99 mentioned BP isnt just a British company and there are things that Obama wont openly mention, if an "American" company caused or were involved in an incident in Britain that has cause the same hassle as the oil spill, would the supposed American company or America itself accept any blame? No they wouldn't,

anyway this could happen with any oil company and as others have mentioned Korns boycott wont make a difference at all, unless every staff member refused to work or quit at BP Stations all over Britain, even if that did happen it'd be selfish on the staffs part not thinking about the hassle it'd cause Britain,

then again they'd be doing some people a favor, with the amount of people looking for jobs just now they'd be helping the people looking for work.

anyway if Korn feel that strongly about this, they should be doing much more than apparent "boycotting" of BP and also refuse to use anything related to BP or any oil company for that fact as this could happen to any oil company.

boycotting BP hurts the little people who work for them. The people at the top are still going to get paid, it's the little people who work in the franchises who are going to hurt. Especially in the Gulf Coast, where BP employ 20,000 people.

So who's going to feel the pain? The people in the Gulf Coast. It'll basically fuck up their economy even more

And I found out today that the USA uses nearly 20million barrels of oil a day. maybe that's a problem that should be solved too.

Hydrogen powered cars exist. James May (Top Gear) has driven one and they can be refuelled very simply! Fuck oil, oil companies, and the problems they cause. If a load of hydrogen had leaked into the ocean we'd just have a little more water. If any of you really care than push your government into adopting the most widely available energy source on the planet!

Not sure the fuel for one camper van is going to make a hell of allot of difference to BP's Q3 profits.

Just to prove they're all the same: Esso spilt a shit load on a Hampshire beach: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/10372617.stm

Interesting that the US imports nearly 50% of its oil. Even US suppliers only supply the refineries that petrol stations buy from. So in effect regardless of which station you use to fill up, you're using oil from the UK, the US, the middle east, and china (to only name a few of the fun ones) in some comination. So really, regardless of which petrol station you fill up at, you're supporting terrorism, genocide, capitalism, oh yeah, and BP.

Oh, Korn merchandise... Any plastic, nylon, polyester, fake leather? All, crude oil byproducts. Hmm.. Not really helping is it?

Hydrogen cars - the electricity needed to compress/store/supply the hydrogen? That's mostly oil/gas/coal as well. Admittedly some nuclear - look at Chernobyl ad three mile island.

Cotton, canldes and bicycles are the only real way to stem the dependance on fossil fuels.
