Contrary to the report in this week's Kerrang! magazine, Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone will now not undergo further brain surgery this week.
Matthew, who is currently recuperating at home, was hospitalised last month after a vicious assault in the band's hometown of Chicago, which left him with a fractured skull, a broken jaw and a broken nose.
At the time of going to press, his brother Nathan told Kerrang! that Matthew was scheduled to undergo further brain surgery this Friday (July 16). He said Matthew's doctors were hoping to reattach a portion of his skull which was removed following the attack to help reduce the swelling of his brain. However, Nathan contacted K! last night to say that Matthew will now undergo a series of tests, including a CT scan, so that doctors can ascertain the level of the swelling.
"Brain surgery is terrifying and temperamental, but we're obviously hoping for the best possible outcome," Nathan told Kerrang!.
"I'm taking care of him at home, but we've got friends and family that come and help look after him, too," he adds. "It's scary, to be honest with you. Matthew has to have eyes on him constantly because if he so much as rolls over onto the exposed side of his head, there's trouble."
