This week's essential tracks!

COREY TAYLOR, SNUFF
Corey dedicated this acoustic rendition of Slipknot's Snuff to his late bandmate Paul Gray during Stone Sour's recent gig in Las Vegas. It's never sounded as heart-wrenching as this.

PEARL JAM, AMONGST THE WAVES
It's been out for nearly 10 months, but it's still impossible not to be bowled over by Pearl Jam's Backspacer album. Just check out this new single - released to raise money for eco charity Conservation International - to hear what we mean.

COHEED AND CAMBRIA, A RUSH AND A PUSH AND THE LAND IS OURS
They like a cover, Coheed do. Here, they've done an acoustic take on this Smiths tune and it sounds bloody marvellous!

PAPA ROACH, KICK IN THE TEETH
This new Papa Roach tune is a rock stomper with a chorus the size of China. Check it out so you can bellow along when they play it at Sonisphere!

SKUNK ANANSIE, MY UGLY BOY
Skunk Anansie are back with a new album Wonderlustre on September 13. This new single is a sassy and classy cut from Skin and her gang.

STREET SWEEPER SOCIAL CLUB, PAPER PLANES
Tom Morello and Boots Riley have done a cover of M.I.A.'s Paper Planes. It's more laid-back than Rage Against The Machine, but it's still groovy.

B.O.B FEAT. RIVERS CUOMO, MAGIC
Just like Airplanes, his chart-topping collaboration with Paramore's Hayley Williams, hip-hop bloke B.O.B has struck gold again with the Weezer mainman.

APOCALYPTICA, END OF ME
The Finnish metal cellists have roped in Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale to sing on this corking new single. It's not as odd a proposition as it might seem, though...

FEAR FACTORY, POWERSHIFTER
Once again, Fear Factory weigh in with some surgically-precise metal here. It's as heavy as an elephant and as sharp as a razor. Fuck, yeah!

THE PRETTY RECKLESS, MISS NOTHING
If you've got your doubts about Taylor Momsen, one listen to this swaggering rocker will quite possibly change your mind...

Jesus Christ, stop putting that moron B.O.B in your playlist, even if he does collaborate with "rock" stars. X_X I dig Weezer, shurr, but...

Also, POW-ER-SHIFT-ERRRR
It's about time, is it the new single?

Posted by Milk Lizard | July 27, 2010 6:02 PM | Reply to this

I agree, get rid of B.O.B, no one likes that shit on here.

Posted by Jake | July 27, 2010 6:51 PM | Reply to this

yeah i agree with the two above me. Get Rid of BOB, he's a prick and just because he's seen sense and recorded with proper artists, doesn't make him any better. Seriously, Kerrang is a rock/metal mag. Not a fricking Rap mag.

B.O.B knows exactly what he's doing! He's using rock legends in his songs too grab the attention of people who wouldn't normally listen too his stuff.

y exactly is b.o.b a prick anyway?
and sure this is not the first time rap/hip-hop have collaborated with rock stars. run-dmc and aerosmith anyone?it provides a good mix.
if you dont like it dont listen to it.

B.O.B ... rock eh kerrang??? ... what happened to you, feel like i might as well pick up a copy of closer!!!

YOU SUCK!!!

Posted by Jimmy | July 28, 2010 10:42 AM | Reply to this

Why in holy hell is B.O.B. even being mentioned on this website. It is like a blasphermy against all things rock and metal. No wonder I stopped buying your magazine >_<

Although on the plus side, nice cover from Coheed up there. Apocalypitca and Pearl Jams additions there are also pretty cool :)

ERRR HELLO

B.O.B is amazing. rivers and hayley are "alternative" or whatever... do the maths. i don't mind this being in kerrang.

taylor momsen however... that i have more of a problem with. nasty barbie doll in manufactured joke hole-covers band? no plz.

Posted by what | July 28, 2010 2:36 PM | Reply to this

can I just point out: B.O.B has said that he's a massive fan of Paramore, and believes Hayley to be an amazing singer (which she is). Thus, he wanted to collaborate with her. It wasn't to try and convert anyone.
speaking of, is it so wrong for people to like more than two genres of music at the same time?

papa roach kick in the teeth, YES!!!
corey taylor's solo acoustic version of snuff is great too

Posted by ryan | July 29, 2010 12:02 AM | Reply to this

Two good songs. I remember when these playlists were badass. Now we have B.o.B, and that disgusting Papa Roach single? The fuck?
Fear Factory and Coheed though, well in.

Also, it's wasn't STONE SOUR's show in Las Vegas, it was a solo thing that Corey did. Check the facts, K! jeez

Posted by Kat R | July 29, 2010 11:17 AM | Reply to this

Posted by LOLWAT | July 29, 2010 12:23 PM | Reply to this

fucking love the paperplanes cover.

Why the fuck is everyone hating on B.O.B for?
Yes he might be part of the Hip-Hop scene but does that mean his music isn't anygood.
His a musician just like Paramore and Slipknot and Papa Roach why should genres be a barrier good music is good music no matter where it comes from.At least B.o.B is out there doing something he loves than bitching about other artists and saying how shit they are.People should get a life and stop hatin.

Ive read these comment threads now for ong enough, i have something t say.
Anyone who seriously thinks it is wrong to listen and like rap/hop hop pop, alongside rock metal deathcore whatever, is crazy.
If you can only listen to one genre you deserve to be cliched and ignored

Posted by Andy F | August 1, 2010 2:36 AM | Reply to this

I don't exactly like B.o.B, but i think that he does have some good songs and i really like Airplanes, mostly cause Hayley Williams sings in it!
I love deathmetal, punk, metal and rock AND i like rap..and sometimes when it's mixed like what HollyWood Undead do, anyone can liike it and tbh it's great when a rap/hip hop lover can converse wiv me about rap and rock being mixxed and not break out into a fight. We can all have different tastes in music. And like someone said above there, stop hating on other artists! Respect other ppl ffs! You wouldn't like it if someone you thought of a fag dissing your music like.
