My Passion unveil new line-up

As reported exclusively in yesterday's Kerrang! magazine, Hitchin goth rockers My passion have become now expanded to become a five-piece.

Drummer Jonathan Gaskin has stepped out from behind his kit to assume guitar, keyboard and vocal duties, while 21-year-old Jamie Nicholls has joined the band as the Hitchin dance-punks' new permanent drummer.

"Expanding the line-up was something we've always imagined happening at some point," vocalist Laurence René tells Kerrang!. "We've always wanted to use live synths, but it was just a case of finding the right time to do it. We've been touring non-stop with the first album [2009's Corporate Flesh Party], trying to make a name for ourselves and doing what we could with the means we had. The new album sounds massive and it's the perfect time to do this.

"Jamie is a great drummer and it'll give us more freedom when we're touring and writing in the future," he adds. "It's a big change for the band, but it's really exciting for us all!"

Inside This Machine will be released in October. The band will kick off their headline tour on October 1. See the Gig Guide for details.

SO happy for my passion! i cant wait to see how they sound in october with jamie!
i think this is such a good move for them & the band because if jonathan was unhappy as drummer, a worse decision may have been made if jamie wasnt there to take gaskins place!
GOOD LUCK BOYS! <3

Can't wait to see the new line-up in October.

Also, if you don't like My Passion then it's very easy to just not read the article. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but please don't spread hate..

@Amy - you may well like them, but what gives you the right to complement them? Oh, right, freedom of expression - so that'll be the rule dictating I can express dislike and distaste towards something?

(However, his post was crude, pathetic, homophobic, and plain boring - so I disagree with what he said).

1) PLEASE stop saying they are "goth rockers" - there is nothing about them that says goth rock; as for goth - well that's an argument with so many sides that I don't care.

2) Meh, they are lovely guys, but when I saw them they just went on...and on...with the same repetitive structure to each song...

Now, no offense to the band or their fans, but since when has My Passion been a goth band?

Posted by Heather | August 15, 2010 6:54 PM | Reply to this

@Heather.

thank you. I thought I was the only person asking this. Though they claim they got influences from the punk and other scenes (they never said "goth scene" specifically, at least not in interviews) I don't think they are goth at all.

Fashion doesn't make them a goth.

'best band ever'... are you people idiots they may have great guitar riffs but there not exactly lyrical genius' the only improvement this band could make is splitting
