This week's essential tracks!

MUNICIPAL WASTE, ACID SENTENCE
Urgh! Corpses being disposed of in vats of acid! This new video from Virginia thrashers Municipal Waste might not be best viewed at lunchtime, but it's definitely worth a peek.

BEHEMOTH, ALAS, LORD IS UPON ME
This new Behemoth video, featuring children watering priests buried in a garden, is certainly odd. The song isn't too normal either, forsaking Behemoth's usual speed in favour of atmospheric heaviness. It's still killer, mind.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, BITTERSWEET MEMORIES
Bullet have got very good at writing enormous ballads and this new single is perhaps their biggest yet. Get those lighters in the air!

DEAF HAVANA, MY LIFE IS AVERAGE
Deaf Havana said goodbye to their screaming vocalist Ryan Mellor in May. Opting to continue as a four-piece, the band have embraced a gorgeously melodic take on their post-hardcore swagger. Listen to this demo version at Kerrang.com.

FILTER, CATCH A FALLING KNIFE
Filter are back and this new tune is as brilliantly heavy as ever, with typically dark, tortured lyrics from frontman Richard Patrick. Awesome!

30 SECONDS TO MARS, CLOSER TO THE EDGE
The third single to be taken from last year's This Is War album, Closer To The Edge is an expansive, multi-layered rock anthem with vocal contributions from The Echelon. A stadium smash, for sure!

DIMMU BORGIR, GATEWAYS
Here it is, the first song from Dimmu Borgir's forthcoming Abrahadabra album. It's like listening to black metal and the Star Wars soundtrack at the same time. Yes!

GLASSJAW, ALL GOOD JUNKIES GO TO HEAVEN
The folks at Guantanamo Bay have set free terror suspects quicker than Glassjaw release new material. This spanking new rocker has been worth the wait, though. More soon, please chaps!

GOOD CHARLOTTE, LIKE IT'S HER BIRTHDAY
A prequel to their 2007 single Dance Floor Anthem, the Madden twins and their crew have returned with this storming floor-filler, taken from their forthcoming album Cardiology.

TUBELORD, RATCHET
Ever wondered what Biffy Clyro would sound like if Trent Reznor and a South Yorkshire brass band gatecrashed their studio? This Kingston-Upon-Thames lot do a pretty good demonstration with their electro-infused pop-rock here!

Tubelord :) I'm a little confused though of why it has made this list given that you slated the E.P.

i don't understand why closer to the edge is on this when it's already been out for like two months. ¬¬

I'm glad to see both Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth up there. I've loved both bands for over half a decade, and I'm loving both the video of the Behemoth song and the new Dimmu song (now bought and on my iPod =P).
