Sebastian Bach: "I know why Axl Rose is always late"

Blabbermouth.net reports that the former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach, a close personal friend of Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose, knows why Axl is persistently late going on stage:

"Everybody has all these theories as to why he acts the way he acts, and there's no big mystery," says Bach. "He tells me the source of all of the insanity -- it's his voice. It's his job to sing like that, and sometimes that sound is hard for him. And a lot of singers, you know... To sing in that range is just not an easy thing to do. And he does what he can, and it takes him 45 more minutes to warm up his pipes so he can sing Sweet Child O'Mine".

Right, that's all sorted! But it begs the question, why doesn't Axl start his warm-ups 45 minutes earlier, then?

In reply to Joe, whether or not someone is a big GnR fan is irrelevant. What is relevant is that Axl's behaviour is disrespectful to those who pay his wages, i.e. gig goers. If he knows he needs 45 minutes to warm up he should rearrange his schedule accordingly. Being late back in the 80s may have been fashionable in rock star circles but it has ALWAYS been and will always be the height of disrespect.

Actually, it's not the disrespect. What annoyed me was in 2006 when i saw them in manchester, they hit the stage around 10.30. My last train and bus are before midnight, luckily i lived within reasonable taxi distance but others had to leave. To say his voice needs warming up for 45 minutes extra to give the best performance possible is completely hypocritical if people after leave before seeing the whole show!

having worked with seb on 2 uk tours and helped organise his solo newcastle date this year i can tell you seb is speaking from his own experience.. seb religiously warms his vocals up for up to 45 mins before a gig. i'm not going to stick up for axl but i know there is some truth in this theory... but like someone said maybe he should start his warm up a little earlier... but once it's warmed up it's one of the most recognisable vocals in rock music..and worth the wait as i have had to put up with on a number of occassions....cheers riffs

That doesnt explain anything though, Axl Rose was 58 minutes to the stage at Reading because he was sleeping and his crew aren't allowed to wake him up. This is just a load of crap really, Axl Rose is a self centred twat and he should respect his fans for getting him to where he is and for giving up their money to give to him.

Ok he needs to warm up to get his voice right i can accept that but if thats the case he should do his voice exercises earlier.

Plus if he has done he so called voice exercises why does he always sound like a dying cat when performing.

For a great guns and roses style gig i reccomend going to see slash with myles kennady.

Axl is a professional musician and should know where and when he needs to warm up his voice before a performance. Realisticaly, he is a drama whore, who wants all the attention on him and whats a better way of doing that than having your own fans turn on you lol.

he's a prick. When I went to see him at Wembley they were at least two hours late and we didn't get back to the hotel until 3am.

but everyone knows about how Axl is late all the time. I know it's disrespectful, but you should know about it before you buy tickets.

lol, i unfortunately saw them at reading and endured the hour and a half lateness and if that was for him to warm up his voice i think that was time wasted lol. i think either he is this ego manic etc but maybe all of this is PR that somehow works into his favour?! no publicity is bad publicity etc. but one thing for sure, i know id rather spend my money on seeing slash and getting a good show, and listen to guns and roses songs played properly

That is such a bullshit excuse.
I went to go see Alkaline Trio at the Lock Up Stage in Reading instead of watching them. I don't like Guns n' Roses anyway but it really pissed me off to see all those people waiting for this guy to turn up.
It's really disrespectful to the fans and to the people putting on the gig.
If it weren't for those fans he wouldn't be where he is today.

I waited over 2 hours for that cocksmoker at the old Wembley stadium back in the early 90's it is disrespectful to the fans who pay hard earned cash to see these gigs the least he could do is turn up on time
