Um.........what about the GREEN DAY one i wanted K! to make?????!!!!!:-[

Why make the headline name about Linkin park who have totally left their roots (and whos new album and tour have flopped?).

What about the true pioneers- Korn, LB, and Deftones...who made and ruled Nu metal before Linkin park jumped on the bandwagon?

There was a Kerrang! Green Day Special last year Sonia.

should have been Limp Bizkit on the front cover of the magazine as they defined the sound and look of Nu-Metal, as for Linkin Park they have gone up their own ******* like U2 have done in order to become accessible to the mainstream!

Posted by red rocker | November 3, 2010 6:33 PM | Reply to this

Except a thousand suns hasn't flopped? It's actually a pretty sick album and it's gone number 1 in several countries. But I do agree that you'd be better of putting a band like Korn on the cover as they pretty much coined nu-metal.

Posted by Trolololol | November 3, 2010 7:36 PM | Reply to this

seriously? linkin park for a nu-metal mag?? its my favourite genre of music, i would have bought it but because their on the cover i wont. Linkin park made about 2 good albums and then became sell-outs. their new album is pop music :/

Posted by Kirki-Leigh | November 3, 2010 8:23 PM | Reply to this

Should've done either Korn or Slipknot, two far musically superior and more pioneering bands.

Posted by That Person | November 4, 2010 11:58 AM | Reply to this

There are pieces about Slipknot, Korn, Limp Bitzkit and SOD as well as Linkin Park. Awesome read :)

Posted by punkdkid | November 4, 2010 2:43 PM | Reply to this

Bruv, the new album IS good. It's just different from there old sound. Listen to Wretches And Kings and Blackout , Waiting For The End etc. it's not Nu-Metal anymore no, but if YOU READ. "The STORY Of Nu-Metal" They were the best in nu-metal, and Hybrid Theory is how you sum up Nu Metal. Look how many records they sold? Bare.

Deffo getting this, Love Linkin Park! Best Band Ever!

Posted by Chris | November 4, 2010 9:17 PM | Reply to this

Their new album is shite!!!

Posted by ... | November 5, 2010 11:43 AM | Reply to this

Their new album is Different... not sjit though =) But guess some people are just narrowminded.. sad really :/
But if you prefer not growing up.. fine by me!
Will try to get Kerrang here (sweden.. small town.. yeayy.. 'not' lucky me).

LP is amazing still =D

those were the days
what the fuck has happened to music?!

Posted by woo dee doo | November 5, 2010 2:04 PM | Reply to this

Their new album only seems shite beacause to only listen to the same genre of music rather than having a wide music taste.

Posted by Jess | November 5, 2010 3:00 PM | Reply to this

they did
it was last year

Posted by jARvis | November 5, 2010 9:25 PM | Reply to this

Posted by jaRVIs | November 5, 2010 9:30 PM | Reply to this

Posted by kat | November 6, 2010 1:13 AM | Reply to this

LP still awesume there new album is not shit but more toned down from the other ive already got this magazine and it ROCK only thing i want see more evanescene in there cuz they are what rocks really all about!

Posted by rockgod360 | November 6, 2010 5:58 PM | Reply to this

Jeez people, they only put Linkin Park on the cover because they have a new album and tour, not because they're the "patrons of nu-metal."

Posted by Mark Smith | November 7, 2010 8:01 PM | Reply to this

I agree with you Jane.
I saw Linkin Park on the 4th November at the MEN and it was simply amazing! Best day ever!

Linkin Park Rocks!

i loved linkin park .. during the nu metal days i mean.. it's kinda disappointing to hear their new music. chester still screams but the band is more like pop and electronic and i hate it ;S
tho im gonna buy this mag. it says nu metal so maybe it has nothing to do with their new album and just the 1st two...hopefully

Posted by joyz | November 10, 2010 3:49 PM | Reply to this

I read a part of this magazine when i was in Fopp in Manchester, and i thought it was an awesome magazine that really goes into detail about the history of nu-metal, and i liked the inclusion of Lostprophets as well. I loved their debut album The Fake Sound Of Progress and i think it's just really underrated, but i'm not keen on their modern consumerism crud they're producing now.

Posted by Charlie | November 10, 2010 5:18 PM | Reply to this

oh, and i quite like Linkin Park's new album! (a lot of fans would probably strangle me for saying this!!) i think it's just the fans need to understand that they're just releasing an album to get all their shit out and that this is for the better fo the band. If you look at it this way, if they made another nu-metal albumit probably wouldn't achieve your expectations and meet your anticipation.

Posted by Charlie | November 10, 2010 5:26 PM | Reply to this

this issue kinda sucked, they gave so many good albums bad ratings when they're supposed to be promoting nu-metal it doesnt help giving nearly all of disturbeds and linkin parks 2 and 3 K!s.
They have no idea wot they are talking about

Posted by smokinjoerules | November 10, 2010 6:17 PM | Reply to this

I LIKED LINKIN PARK UNTIL THEIR 'THOUSAND SUN'S ALBUM' it more of a people pleaser...........a real let-down!

Posted by Whatsername | November 11, 2010 9:05 AM | Reply to this

How can you possibly say "A Thousand Suns" was a crowd pleaser??!! If they wanted to produce a crowd pleaser surely they would have done another "Hybrid Theory"??? I agree their new album is different, but it does grow. Saw them last night and they played music from all their albums.... they still have it... believe me!!

Posted by Kelly | November 11, 2010 10:04 AM | Reply to this

Also saw LP last night in the o2 arena, insanely good show. It still amazes me how Chester's voice can get even better each year. Awesome performance, brilliant sound quality, great atmosphere, cool lighting, only tiny disappointment was the opening band who were completely forgettable. Overall it was on par with Muse's Wembley shows in my opinion, so in other words: very, very good.

Posted by NewDivide | November 11, 2010 12:39 PM | Reply to this

ofcorse thousand suns is a crowd pleaser!! my friend the pop princess loves most of the songs on their new album!!

Posted by Whatsername | November 15, 2010 3:13 PM | Reply to this

it's called EVOLUTION guys, LP can't produce the same kind of music, and you won't want multiple copies of hybrid theory with just different album covers would you?
all haters like a particular genre somewhere along LP's timeline, not a band

@Whatsername

So because one person who likes two different genres of music likes this album makes it a mainstream crowd pleaser? Yeah, that totally makes sense...

Posted by Cure for the Itch | November 19, 2010 1:02 AM | Reply to this

linkin park have changed! their new album is completly different to their old ones, i prefere their old music tbh, :/. but i might aswell get into their new style of music, because i've loved them for so long:) and i dought they'll change

It's something that has always bothered me. Back when Nu-Metal was popular, LP were happy to hop onto the rap-metal bandwagon, then when it became unpopular, they denied ever being Nu-Metal.

Cunterry.

Posted by You, but on a really good day. | November 28, 2010 3:22 PM | Reply to this

If it was a people pleaser, then they would have done another nu-metal album and made millions with it. However, they decided to be artistic and do what they wanted to do and not what their fans wanted to hear.

Posted by Miles | December 6, 2010 3:27 PM | Reply to this

stfutrolls, linkin park are good and there new album has some decent songs but the are no where near the best nu metal band and hybrid theory does not sum up new metal , yes the album was great but korn slipknot and limp bizkit sum up new metal, and they have produced more than one good album. linkin park was most likely on the cover because they have the biggest fan base at the moment who buy kerrang, there most likely are less slipknot and korn fans who buy the magazine, and in general i so want to buy this for the slipknot limp bizkit and korn pieces and posters but i cant find where to buy it, the link does not sell them anymore

Posted by Murky | December 10, 2010 4:34 PM | Reply to this

I quite liked that, disappointing that there were only like four pages with slipknot on it

sounds like a awesome read but korn or limp bizkit shouldve been on the front as they defined the genre first and im massive fan of korn as well because they created a whole new genre with the help of ross robinson :P and linkin park seem like a different genre now although korn do as well since nu-metal is also like an experimental genre :)
