My Chemical Romance embroiled in tough chart battle

My Chemical Romance are facing a tough chart battle this week. The band's latest album, Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys, debuted in the Top 10 of the UK album charts earlier this week, but has since been pushed down to Number 11 as the nation stocks up on the likes of Take That, JLS, West Life, Susan Boyle and, um, Bon Jovi for Christmas.

MCR's previous album, The Black Parade, debuted at Number Two upon its release in October 2006. Killjoys, if you've downloaded the album illegally via the internet, show them some love and purchase a proper copy!

its a shame they released the album this week... its such a bad week to release an album with pretty much every pop band releasing an album in time for the christmas sales.... if they'd released a few weeks back im sure it would have gone to No.1

My chem are amazing and deserve every bit of cedit they ever get, I preodered dangerdays the day it was avalible and it came through my door on November 22nd. Its amazing, worth the wait by far.

MCR are an amazing group of guys, and it's easy to tell that they love what they do and put their heart and soul into Danger Days. A number one spot's gonna be hard to grab this close to christmas, but their fans will stick by them no matter what <3

Why put, 'um, bon jovi' for as they're still one of the biggest bands on the planet. Is it because you spend your lives trying to push the bands you like when clearly bon jovi have plenty of classic songs that everyone will remember forever.

All I know is that these bands/artists could learn a lot from MCR.

If black parade didnt get to number 1 then why should this, i love the album but in all fairness, it isn't anywhere near as good as black parade. Emos make some noise!!!

how do you complain to kerrang magazine? i was a bit pissed off where they placed the my chemical romance advert. 1. it doesnt make me want to buy the album. 2. i cant see all the f'ing gig listings now.

well i brought my copy :)

Got the album yesterday after I pre-ordered it on the 2 October and I haven't stopped listening to it since - absolutely brilliant and definitely worth the wait!!! xxx

its on the next page.. just turn over

It's not being stocked in supermarkets or indie stores (at least not the ones I've looked in!) so it's no wonder Danger Days is struggling.
Pretty much every act ahead of them has been on X Factor in the past few weeks, too, getting hear by 17 million viewers or something. Not exactly a level playing field.

We all know My Chem will beat them all!! let hope they get the prize position <33

Posted by Halima | November 26, 2010 1:14 PM | Reply to this

@ ryan: I feel like complaining too....Kerrang might as well just fill the whole fucking magazine and website with this bollocks. Can't seem to go even one day without My Chemical Shit Streak on the front page of the site....makes me feel sick. Why are Dimebag, Paul Gray, Dio etc. dead while these twats are still able to make their shitty music??

Posted by Dimebag | November 26, 2010 1:39 PM | Reply to this

Just checked my watch.

It hasn't been 5 minutes since I've seen posted on Kerrang or in the magazine about My Chemical Romance.

I went and bought my copy on Monday as soon as I got up, I'm recommending it to everyone I know. I like it a lot better than the Black Parade, and their show a month ago was incredible. Killjoys, make some noise!

Posted by Rachii | November 26, 2010 2:03 PM | Reply to this

@mat the album was released Nov 22 for a reason. It's the anniversary of john f kennedys assaniation, and MCR's killjoys are an abbreviation. Party Poison, Jet Star, Fun Ghoul and Kobra Kid.
It's a shame they haven't made top 10 for very long, they lasted only hours in australia. Why Um Bon Jovi? I've seen them before and have tickets to see them in a weeks time, Bon Jovi has been around for decades, and Susan? Thats not even the same category as MCR and Bon Jovi.
@dimebag and ryan if you don't care for MCR, go elsewhere and don't read about it. Face it, they're popular and enjoy what they do. Magazines like Kerrang! Will write about them because A) it sells magazines and B)People want to hear about it.
I have to put up wirh hearing about bands and artists I don't particularly like bit I get over it and ignore it. I don't go and write about how their music is rubbish and get over it.

Posted by flyingcabbage | November 26, 2010 6:11 PM | Reply to this

I got mine on pre-order so the fact my money went through last friday hopefully means i contributed to the charts?!?!?

There was no way i was ever going to download this album illegally. My Chemical Romance deserve so much better for the hard work they put in :)

Posted by Zoe N | November 26, 2010 6:17 PM | Reply to this

@Ryan You CAN see all the gig listings. Kerrang! repeated them on the back of the page with the MCR advert in. My K! hasn't arrived yet so i was flicking through my friends and even i, looking at it for about a minute, noticed that K! had had the courtesy to re print the page.

I thought the advert was epic xD

Posted by Zoe N | November 26, 2010 6:20 PM | Reply to this

It was 10th in HMV when I bought it (the day it came out) - and if you don't like MCR why are you even on this page? Just go away because no one gives a fuck what you think about them. I'm sure MCR are still gonna be touring and recording regardless of your opinion.

Posted by Flashback | November 26, 2010 6:44 PM | Reply to this

I pre ordered my copy a couple of weeks ago and it didnt come until yesterday!! Worth the wait though, even though i personally think their first album was the best! Sad to say i dont think theyre gonna be number one again, said take that had fastest selling cd of the century on one music channel!

Posted by Dahlia | November 26, 2010 6:49 PM | Reply to this

Who cares about where they come in the charts? The charts mean nothing about good music.

Posted by tonyjackson89 | November 26, 2010 6:49 PM | Reply to this

i dont care where they are in the charts, they will always be number 1 to me. and i pre-ordered the album twice, AND im getting the 2019 box set aswell as a boxset from HMV which comes with a bandana. My Chemical Romance FTWWW!!

Why the hell put 'um, Bon Jovi'

What gives you the right to put that?

Just because they're not a 'new' band doesn't give you the right to look down upon them.
Kerrang!, all you EVER seem to report on is MCR, Paramore, 30 Seconds to Mars and BMTH.
Don't get me wrong, I love MCR, have seen Paramore live and also love the others,

but c'mon, at least TRY and include some other bands?! The world doesn't revolve around those 4 bands, and it probably never will.

Just because Bon Jovi have been around for longer doesn't give you the right to look down on them because they aren't 'new' and they aren't one of those 4.

Get a grip, it's infuriating to people like me, the people that watch your TV channel and buy your magazine and visit your website every day just to find a narrow window of 'new' bands.
Get more verity and stop being dickheads.

tbh the album isnt as good as their old stuff so probably wont do as well as the black parade : /

Alana, I've been buying Kerrang! for seven years and read my sister's before that, and oh my god has Kerrang! gotten shit recently! Your comment made my day because I'm so glad I'm not the only to see how biased they've become. It started with hating some bands, then only printing praise in the "feedback" section of the mag, now they just worship My Chemical Underpants and Paramore.... There is very little interesting stuff in the mag anymore. Even I am considering not buying it again, and I'm so freakin' nosy that I practically have to.

becasue i have loved them since december 9th 2002 in the hospital with a broken arm, i bought two copies. the standard and the hmv. must say though, £19 for a larger box containing the standard edition and a bandana is a bit steep. :/

Downloaded the album (legally) at 6.15am the morning it came out, and bought the actual CD the next day. It's really AMAZING, and I think they deserve some recognition for what they've done, even though good music NEVER makes it into the chart these days, so why even bother??

Oh and haters, why are you even here??

Who cares if they don't chart high? The chart is full of poppy r&b crap anyway. It's still an awesome album :)

Posted by S/ | November 27, 2010 7:32 PM | Reply to this

the charts are just full of that shitty pop music and r&b, so who cares if they don't reach umber one in a nation where the majority have an awful taste in music?

Posted by MCR :D | November 27, 2010 8:10 PM | Reply to this

It at number 18 on itunes. Fucking joke really they are a band that has tried really hard the album is awesome and they have had a really good comback. I wish more people would like better music not shit like JLSetc. I really thought it would of done slot better :(

1) This album was not made to please anyone, it's the art these guys have wanted to make for a long time and if you don't like it, they don't care.
2)The place they have in charts is not important.
3)learn some respect. It's fine if you don't like it, it's your opinion, but you don't have to go around insulting others because they don't think the same.

Posted by Marz | November 28, 2010 9:12 PM | Reply to this

To people saying that the charts are full of R&B and rock music doesn't chart... The Final Frontier by Iron Maiden was Number 1.
It's because MCR are shit.

Posted by Alex | November 28, 2010 10:48 PM | Reply to this

And that's coming from an ex-MCR fanboy.

MCR are not shit. They are kjwnckjdfh good. (I could not think of and adjective to decribe them) If you don't like them, then that is your opinion but keep to yourself, otherwise all you do is make MCR fans hate you.

Posted by Laura Doyle | November 29, 2010 9:55 AM | Reply to this

Since when have they been a POP band? Erm.. because "I'm just soggy from the chemo" is a line you always find in MC Jdizzle's album..
