Cradle Of Filth frontman now a lord

Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth has revealed he has acquired a title and will now be referred to as Lord Filth.

"I'm looking into what my title allows, whether that's driving a flock of sheep through the town centre on a bank holiday or the keys to every inn and wine cellar in the county," explains Lord Filth. "I've also been looking into a nice new country pile, the parties will be immense, the kind Lord Byron would throw if he had access to some Slayer albums.

"I'm fully expecting it to help get me a better table when I eat out too, especially in the U.S.," he adds. "Ultimately, this is a great opportunity to mess with people's perceptions."

The band's latest album, Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa is out now.

I think you can acquire a lordship by buying a particular plot of land, or by just buying the title.
Anyway, that's pretty awesome xD

I suspect it's a lordship of a manor, rather than a peerage. Manorial rights are pretty easy to purchase these days and they entitle the owner to be addressed as [say] Dani Filth Esq, Lord of the Manor of Hadley, or "Lord Filth," as a courtesy title.

In order to be a peer, he'd have to be created a peer by the queen, or inherit the title. Then he would be entitled to be addressed as "The Lord Filth of Hadley." It's the definite article which separates peerages of the realm from courtesy titles.

Dani should tell us what he's bought or do some research:
http://www.faketitles.com:

"The first and most important fact that needs to be grasped is that you cannot purchase a genuine British title, with the one exception of the feudal title of a Scottish baron; and you certainly cannot buy a peerage title."
