Biffy and Corey unlikely to beat Cardle to Number One

As the race for the 2010 Christmas Number One begins to heat up, mid-week chart reports reveal that X Factor winner Matt Cardle is miles ahead of the competition.

New figures published today reveal that Cardle is currently topping the charts having shifted nearly a quarter of a million copies of When We Collide, his retitled cover of Biffy Clyro's many Of Horror. Biffy's original version is currently sitting at Number Seven in the charts after shifting just over a tenth of what Cardle has sold.

The other rock Number One hopeful, Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, is at Number 36 after selling just under 7,000 copies of his track XM@$.

There is a positive outcome to this chart battle however. After learning that Corey Taylor is donating the proceeds of his single to the Teenage Cancer Trust, Matt Cardle says that he will donate the money he makes from his single to cancer charities, too.

"At least the charities benefit," said Taylor. "XM@$ [was] at No.34 three days after its release. Keep up the amazing work - it isn't over yet. And remember, if it makes it, a thank-you surprise is being planned."

To be honest, I actually wouldn't mind Cardle getting the No. 1 spot. Obviously I'd much prefer Corey or Biffy to get it, but Cardle's actually got an alright voice, and unlike most of the other previous X Factor contestants has some musical ability other than voice (guitar as well as the fact that he used to be in a band himself).

Let's be honest, if Cardle get's number one at least it's not gonna be some charismaless disrespectful to music pop freak. He will probobly set up his own alternative rock band before we know it, so if he get's number one then fine. I'd still much rather see something else number 1 though so Simon Cowell can go suck a huge hairy cock.

I am a fan of the X Factor but i'd much prefer to see Biffy get the top spot. It would be nice to see Corey get it, just to rub in all the pathethic little chavvy idiots out there that download shit that's in the charts these days. Atleast if Corey wins the money will be going to a good cause. I still much prefer the Biffy version of Cardle's song. (= x

At least Corey was doing it for a good cause from the beginning. Unlike Cardle who was like "oh right yeah I better give to charity then". Why the hell should we have to have an X Factor song as number one every fucking year? that's why last year was so good. We just seem to roll over and take any shit cover that Simon Cowell's wank show comes up with. So what if Cardle can sing? if he's that great then why can't he release his own fucking song?
