Don't worry about Mike... a drummer of his calibre can find a much better group than DT. (I always thought they were pretty crap anyway)
I'm kinda hoping he can carry on with A7X... there aren't many that could fill Rev's shoes, but Mike is definitely one of them.

Mike IS Dream Theater. He was one of the founder members and he put a hell of a lot into the band. If Dream Theater don't want him back, fair enough. It was his decision to leave and their decision to continue without him. I for one think they'll (DT) be poorer without him - their last two albums have been bloody awesome, a real return to form.

There's sure to be more Portnoy projects in future, a drummer with his technical ability won't be out of work for long.

Sorry, Joey Jordison isnt that good, playing fast doesnt make you good. Its about technicality, hence why Jimi Hendrix is known widely as the best guitarist of all time.
Mike Portnoy and Neil Peart are the best two drummers in the world. Sorry fangirls.

I stil don't understand the big wankfest around Portnoy and Jordison. They're great, but there are better drummers out there, people. As an example, check out Jeremy Colson with Steve Vai. "Sick" doesn't even BEGIN to describe his playing.

There are many good drummers in this world and some in the afterlife. Stop arguing over who is best.

Mike is a great Drummer, but i have to say my fave Drummer was The Rev. My other fave Drummers are Traivs Barker (Blink 182 and +44), Tre Cool (Green Day), Joey Jordison (Slipknot), Vinne Paul (Pantera) and Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour)

ye ,if im honest i prefer joey in murderdolls as a guitarist and every body is forgetting nicko in iron maiden coz he is probablly one of the best (in my opinion) also I think travis barker is a tad overrated and if the rev wasnt dead then he probobly woudnt get so much credit (i do think he was an excellent drummer but it is true ) but respect the dead and let people have their own opinions

Mike Wengren [Disturbed] and Morgan Rose [Sevendust] are the two greatest drummers around. Godsmack's Shannon Larkin is phenomenal aswell.

you deffo know nothing about drumming if you think the Rev is overrated and joey jodison is one of the best, joey is one of the worst drummers in metal i have seen his technique is shocking and his beats are boring, okie he might have speed but he has nothing compared so some of the drummers out there. the rev runs rings around joey and mike portnoy runs rings around them both and also check out shannon lucas if you want speed and technique, he is by far one of the fastest and most efficient drummers in metal.
