Finch call it quits

California post-hardcore heroes Finch have split up... Again!

The band, who originally went on hiatus in 2006 only to reform the following year, say this latest split is for good.

An official statement reads as follows:

"From the beginning what's always made up the sound of Finch was our ability to take our individual influences, no matter how different, and write music together that stands on it's own. A tense balancing act on a loose wire where we have had success crossing and also lost balance to fall and be broken. Over the past few years we have collectively gone insane trying to achieve the common goal of writing our new record. It's become obvious to all of us that the thing that made Finch such a special band to be in, was also the key ingredient that was tearing us apart.

"As we get older and broaden our musical pallets, we are all on separate planets drifting further and further out of orbit. Finch is our sun, it has given us everything that we have. This year our sun imploded. Although we travel through darkness. It's comforting to know that we are all still friends. Together floating in the unknown. We want to thank you for your undying love and support of our band. Without you, accomplishing our wildest dreams would not have been possible. We apologize deeply for letting you down. Please forgive us and please keep listening to Finch."

Shame noones commented this, solid band. Shame the rest of Kerrang readers are too busy listening to mediocrity like Young Guns over bands like Finch :/.

Finch were one of the first bands I properly got into when I first started heading off to gigs and the like. Awesome live, and enjoyed them on record as well. They didn't pander to scene stereotypes, which was what I found likeable about them.

I went off them for a bit but then I got hold of that self-titled EP from their website and was suitably impressed. I was hoping they'd be back with a new album, a tour, etc. But its not to be, I guess. Good luck for the future guys.

My favourite band of all time. First got into them by listening to them on Burnout for the psp. I loved they're style and how they differentiated themselves from mainstream rock today. Was really looking forward to seeing them on tour and a new album :( R.I.P. Finch you did me proud!

Finch are still an amazing band. What It Is To Burn is a fantastic album. Shame they split up again. Anyone who hasn't heard them and take "reviews" from friends and family alike without listening to this album, please listen. It's top class.

Damn, I was looking forward to the new album.

One of the last, in my opinion, true post hardcore bands.

Still, we have Black Veil Brides, I suppose....

Crap timing after just finding out Daryl from Glassjaw sings on a few of their songs, so I'll listen to the albums cos I've only got about 6 osngs by them, and they're great =/ Shame they won't follow up anthing more. As for ..'s comment, Young Guns are a pretty good band tbf, albeit set upon by stupid 13 year old girls for Gustav's hair =/
