"It has been a difficult year..."

Heaven And Hell guitarist Tony Iommi has thanked fans for their support this year following the death of frontman Ronnie James Dio. The vocalist lost his battle with cancer in May.

The former Black Sabbath six-stringer posted the message on his official Facebook page and hinted at more live activity in the next 12 months.

"I want to thank you all for your brilliant support in what has been a difficult year," writes Iommi. "I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a 2011 in which you achieve something you're working towards. See you at a show soon."

Last month, Iommi revealed he has been working on new material for a charity release to beneift the Armenian Music School Appeal. The all-star single, which is set for release next year, features appearances from Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain, former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and HIM guitarist Mikko Lindström.

That sounds like it will be one hell of a record. It's a shame this has had no comments when anything to do with Paramore/30STM/MCR there's several fangirls spamming about how they <333333333 the lead singer.

It's been a sad year, what with all those musicians seemingly dropping like flies. But we'll always have the records, and they'll always mean something special to every new person that discovers them. So atleast there's that.
