Paramore, Muse and Iron Maiden get Grammy nominations

Paramore, Muse and Iron Maiden have been announced as nominees in the forthcoming Grammy Awards.

Paramore are up for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for The Only Exception, and frontwoman Hayley Williams is also up for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for Airplanes Part II which she recorded with rappers B.o.B and Eminem.

Muse have received three nominations for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for the album The Resistance and the single Resistance, respectively.

Pearl Jam's Backspacer is also up for Best Rock Album, while Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has been nominated for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for Silver Rider from his Band Of Joy album.

Iron Maiden are taking on Korn, Lamb Of God, Megadeth and Slayer in the Best Metal Performance category, while Alice In Chains, Ozzy Osbourne, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots and Them Crooked Vultures are set to battle it out in the Best Hard Rock Performance category.

Green Day have been nominated for Best Musical Show Album for the cast recording of American Idiot: The Musical, while Green Day, Paramore and Meat Loaf producer Rob Cavallo has been nominated in the Producer Of The Year (Non-Classical) category.

The Grammy Awards will take place at Los Angeles' Staples Center on February 13.

What a rubbish line up for the Best Metal Performance category. Where are AC/DC, Ratm, Ranmstein (sp?) None of the bands nominated are that amazing live particularly Megadeth are so boring live.

Any time a band reaches any sort of fame at all nowadays they're branded as sell outs.. It's a bit stupid.

Whoever the hypocritical eejit was that said Paramore were sell outs and went on to say Green Day are the best band in the world is obviously a very uninformed person.

If either band were to be labelled sell outs, it'd definitely be Green Day. They sold out. Like as, they actually sold out, not the throwaway term people use nowadays to describe any band that they don't like that is relatively popular. Btw, I love Green Day, but I can't deny that they sold out..

I love both bands, by the way, so I'm not biased.

ill think you will find that paramore are much more sell outs than Green Day
i mean Green Day have about 8 ablums out. and only started to sell out on the 7th ablum (American Idiot) and Paramore only have what is it 3 or 4 albums? :L and paramore started to sell out very early. so really Paramore are Sell Outs!!! paha Green Day have really worked all there lives and paramore are lazy fuckers! Haha, Paramore up for a POP award. Finally in a pop category when they are obviously not a rock act. All the Parawhores will be angry now that their beloved is finally being labelled a pop act. Also bad news for Kerrang when they keep covering a pop band. All we need now is youmeatsix finally labelled a pop act.

Paramore and Kerrang would not give a stuff about all you haters would say. And, there not sell outs, Fuled by Ramen is, they are the ones that were contacted by twilight so give paramore fucking break, and if you hate them so much, why bother commenting. I'm glad to see Green Day, Paramore, and Muse. Green Day and Muse we're AMAZING when I saw them live. Paramore is amazing as well. These people worked so hard to be where they are now. Idk why people consider them sellouts, all they're doing is attracting more fans, and without all those fans, they probably wouldn't be as famous as they are today. All they're doing is what they love most, and that's performing for their fans, and that's gotten them far in life. I hope they all earn an award, they definatley deserve it, especially with all that hard work, talent, and dedication they put for their music. Good luck!!!(:

I'm sorry but do you people even know what selling out is? It's not becoming popular and therefore hated by the wannabes who despise the mainstream..

Selling out is somebody (or a band) that goes against their morals and their integrity for money or success.

Green Day sold out when they signed to a major label, because up until they they were representing the underground punk scene and were supposed to be against the big labels. Paramore did not sell out by a) composing a track for twilight (as they were fans to begin with) or b) becoming mega popular and pissing people off (haters gonna hate).

That said, even though Green Day sold out, I'm still a huge fan of their music and they're great guys, so I'm not against Green Day at all.

No they didn't.I love Green Day but after Dookie(their third album)they sold out.But Paramore didn't it's the stupid Decode and The Only Exception fans that are the probelm and what I don't understand is how THE HELL are they in the pop category?They are alternative.

Paramore is nominated for a POP category because The Only Exception is a pop-rock ballad, hence why they're up for that category. The name of that category is Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, and yes, The Only Exception is a pop song that Paramore performs, and yes, they're a group, and the song has great vocals on it. In my opinion, Paramore is a very very good band. I love their music, and I can say that it could be classified as pop-punk, pop-rock or alternative rock, even emo (emotional music). They aren't sell outs, and Green Day isn't either. So stop argueing about that!

Okay, Paramore is an amazing band. And so is Green Day, we all have different opinions and for people who dislike paramore just because they have different genres of music then you're stupid because genres doesn't even matter it's the music that does and for people who also don't like paramore anymore because of twilight and airplanes then that's just stupid if you were a fan you would stick with them not just hate them because they got more popular.
I really hope paramore wins but if not then let the best band win:)

There're many very famous bands in the whole wide world I don't like because they're not my taste and boring (like Muse in MY opinion) so I don't pay attention to them...that's a normal, mature behaviour. That shows that the most people who don't like Paramore must be very infantile :/ And I don't understand why some people have a problem with the pop-nomination or why they think that Paramore is a pop-act. The Only Exception is a popsong and Paramore a alternative/pop-punk band. Their music is various and pop isn't a exactly defined genre. Pop = popular. Paramore is rockband and this won't change because of some ignorant people and that's not my opinion that's a FACT and it doesn't matter if you "love" or hate this band. By the way...pop isn't a expletive. There some very good pop musicans.
