Biffy Clyro and Robert Plant nominated for Brit Awards

Out of the 68 nominations for the 2011 Brit Awards, only two-and-a-bit of them are going to rock artists. WTF! indeed.

Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert plant has been nominated for Best Male Solo Artist, while Biffy Clyro have been nominated for Best British Group. X Factor winner Matt Cardle's cover of Biffy's Many Of Horror, renamed When We Collide, has been nominated for Best British single.

A nominations show will be screened tonight (Friday, January 14) on ITV 2 at 8PM while the awards themselves will take place at London's O2 Arena on February 15.

It's because the people who vote for the Brits are close minded morons who listen to the same recycled R&B crap that has ruined the industry.

Grats to Biffy and Robert Plant anyway :)

It's stupid how someone gets so much recognition for a song they didn't even make.

Rob zombie made a good point in this weeks Kerrang. Where have all the rock stars gone? Metal is anti-establishment. Brits are establishment...safe..overproduced shite for the masses. Metal is not and never will be for the massess thats why it's ours and thats why we love it. Fuck the brits and thank god actual music making individuals that can play instruments are actually in it...shame on you kerrang for even reporting this...

Erm, Kings of Leon are nominated and you always play them on your radio station/TV channel... How can you mention Matt Cardle and not these?

Also, radio-wise, you play a lot of the other nominations too. Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend and Temper Trap to name just a few.

All of this aside, and as well as the bands mentioned, Plan B, Mumford and Sons, Gorillaz, Mark Ronson, Paul Weller, Florence and the Machine, The xx, Bruce Springsteen, Cee Lo Green and of course Eminem are all amazing artists in their own right.

Awards shows are shit. Live with it.

Look at Kerrang still pretending they appeal to the same audience as Robert Plant. Cute.

Iron maiden did win a Brit in 2009 for best british live band (which i believe was one of few awards that was voted for by the public) Dunno if they're up for another.

Brit Awards, what a pile of shite, Tiny Tempah up for 4 awards what the hell is going on?

Thank God Mumford and Sons got best British album, I know their not exactly heavy metal but are actually classed as folk but folk and rock have always had a cross over relationship.

Playlists on radio stations should be done away with, whether it be Kerrang, Radio 1, whoever, who are radio stations or other types of media to tell the public what they should be listening to, its as bad as the X - Factor pushing all the Mariah Carey wanna bes as in horsefaced Leona Lewis.

Radio stations should play all the latest releases, it annoys me for example Kerrrang doesn't play Pink when most of the stuff she has done is rock or rock orientated stuff.

I am a rock fan first and foremost but if you look at the charts black music in the form of urban is starting to dominate the charts whehter we like it or not and that is because thats genuinely what the mainstream public want or urban acts are getting more airplay than rock acts which obviously isn't right.
