Evanescence get risky on new album

Evanescence drummer Will Hunt says that the sessions for the follow-up to 2006's The Open Door are progressing well and that frontwoman Amy Lee is taking some "really big risks".

The band are working with U2 producer Steve Lillywhite on the as-yet-untitled album which is due for release later this year and Hunt says that they have been experimenting with incorporating new, electronic elements into their sound.

"There are new colours in the pattern," he said. "There's a lot of cool new things going on, both electronically and futuristically. I think she's doing something that's very special and hasn't been done before. I'm a supporter. I think it's killer!"

But Evanescence fans shouldn't worry about the band taking a new direction because it still sounds like them.

"It's always going to sound like Evanescence, 'cause it's Amy Lee singing," he explained. "But the vehicle for that voice can be different and still be Evanescence. She is taking some real big risks and honestly, I think it's amazing!"

OK kiddies. Let's all put on our devil horns now and wrap our buttocks in barbed wire and slam dance. When I first heard Evanescence I thought. "Gals got a great voice". But what the f is that dude yelling about in the back ground. I would definitely judge the musicians as being influenced by the Nu Metal thing but I would not put their music in that genre. But then again most need to put music in a tiny little box with a tiny little label so we can say it blows. I'm a big "Heavy Music" listener and everyone has a different interpretation of what is "Heavy" or "Metal" or "Nu". Yea, and believe it or not "Heavy Music" is now an official buzz word in the music industry. If I did not grow up on heavy doses of Anthrax and Motorhead I might think Evanescence was heavy. But... naw. So I would not even call their stuff Metal. Ending on a positive note, I would say Evanescence is just some fun as sh*t to listen to when I'm in an Evanescence mood. So, props to them for wanting to expand on their sound because I think that is exactly what they first did with their musical influences.

^ Some people have nothing better to do than sit on Kerrang.com all day and comment on the bands they don't like. Best just to ignore them.

As for the the new album, can't wait to see how they expand their sound. Will Hunt is a awesome drummer by the way ! He's worked with some good bands.

Can't wait for this new album! It was such a disappointment when it was delayed, but I know that when it is released, it will blow us all away. And BTW, Amy Lee has NOT left Evanescence, Ben Moody (the co-founder and guitarist who left in 2003) started a new band called "We Are The Fallen" with 2 other previous Evanescence members. Confusing, but Evanescence still has Amy Lee.

I can't wait for the new album it's been hard with waiting i just want the wait to be over but it's wroth the wait. I know this album is gone to be different from Fallen, The Open Door but I'm glad their taking a risk you don't want to make the same album twice. Welcome back guys...We've missed you's (=

I used to love evanescence, but now not so much. Amy lee has deffanlty let the fame go to her head and seems to be abit of a bitch. Yes i agree she does have a good voice though. So don't all hate me for saying this as it's my opinion.

even though it got delayed i feel that it will be an awsome album when it's released, Amy wouldn't let us wait so long to release something which is going to be a pile of crap. i know she will have put 100% into it. i can't wait :)

wow theres alot of comments out there good and bad, personally i was a bit freaked about the whole new sound thing but i think it might be good,but everyone is going electric sounding today, but i shall support none the less! rock on sister.!! and"we are the fallen can kiss my arse" why replicate the same band twice? loosers! lol peace!

Yes the others left Evanescence but come on they weren't the best musicians anyway. When you go to see Evanescence your going to see Amy Lee. The other band members weren't that amazing. The reason Evanescence is so huge is because of Amy Lee. So who gives a fuck about the other guys leaving. The formed 'We Are The Fallen' Which is pretty much them grabbing another chick with black hair and a good voice trying to be another Evanescence and utterly failing at it. So I actually cant wait for this album and to see what Amy Lee can do without being held back by the others. Oh and who cares if she's ''let the fame go to her head'' Don't try to tell how some power can corrupt a person, You haven't had enough to know what it's like, You're only angry 'cause you wish you were in her position.

we are tired of the waiting I've been waiting since 2007- and now we're in Feb/2011 plz Amy release the album, what's going on... u got married and happy, plz give us the music we need and knock these new artist by the Evanescence 3rd album.. I know the band changed but u look better now the members are handsome... Evanescence's all about Amy Lee, we love U... ohhh please come back to the billboard charts and concerts and the awards show and the TRL... we need U more than ever, can't wait to buy the album :-(

Where exactly are any of you in the music world where you can say stuff like that? Oh you're sitting in front of your computer screen, bitching at awesome bands who all do awesome stuff, when really the truth is you wish you had even an ounce of Amy Lee's talent and capability as a musician. As for the comment saying they all left her, please. This was always Amy Lee's band, always her creativity. If Ben Moody was still in the band, this would be more like an Kelly Clarkson project. I suggest if watching successful musicians makes you jealous, stop looking. And why read articles on bands that are "shit"? Sad really. Amy Lee rocks. Evanescence rocks. I personally love evanescence I've listen to there pieces since I was 8 or 9. Their amazing as they incorporate feelings and emotions into their music and, your promised an emotional roller coaster just full poetic devices no other band could Use and create. Keep going you've gt plenty of encouragement from the people I know Amy Lee your awesome x

number 1 amy lee and evanescence have been influenced by alot of bands and that shows with alot of different element in their music
number 2 amy lee basically is evanescence with kudos going to the rest of the band for helping her develop her sound and ideas

hi guys .evanescence was such a great thing in my life.it's almost five years that they hadn't any album for us,and it sounds like new songs to me.every time i'm listen to their songs never ever they won't be old for me.i hope they 'll have a surprise for us after all.so please support them with being positive and realistic .
