Sonisphere add even more bands!

Weezer, Airbourne, Architects and Diamond Head are the latest additions to the bill of this year's Sonisphere festival.

"We love playing the Sonisphere festivals!" says Airbourne frontman Joel O'Keeffe. "It's always a great line up of bands and it's always a great crowd!"

"UK festivals are always a massive deal for us because it's basically the biggest gathering of Architects fans we can play to, and this year you know it's going to be special because the line up for Sonisphere is insane!" adds Architects vocalist Sam Carter. "It's also a big deal because it'll be our first UK festival since our new record, The Here And Now came out and that record was built for festivals! We'll see everyone at Sonisphere 2011!"

As previously announced, Metallica will close the Friday night of this year's festival (July 8), Biffy Clyro will close the Saturday night (July 9) and Slipknot will close the Sunday night (July 10). Also on the bill are Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.

For legendary UK rockers Diamond Head, it'll be a chance to catch up with their old friends Metallica, who have recorded covers of their tracks Am I Evil and The Prince.

"This will be Diamond Head's biggest ever show and myself and the other band members are very excited and looking forward to what will be an historic event," says guitarist Brian Tatler. "Knebworth is one of those venues you only dream of playing. I saw Led Zeppelin there in 1979 and never imagined that one day I would be on that stage, it proves the saying 'anything is possible'! It also means I get to see my friends in Metallica and Megadeth once again which is always fun; I owe both Lars Ulrich and Dave Mustaine a beer."

To be fair in the past they've had Heaven & Hell -> Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails -> Metallica, Placebo -> Rammstein and Pendulum -> Iron Maiden. I wouldn't be suprised if fucking Cannibal Corpse were on before Biffy (that would be hilarious). Although I do agree that putting Weezer before Biffy would make more sense.

by non metal i meant like more alt/indie types :L as in to name a few, Foo Fighters, Canterbury and Madina Lake bands along those lines. But Sonispheres could have owned download better if they'd gotten a few of the bands just announced at Download.

Download, take note - this is how to do announcements. No one you could call filler among this lot. Weezer alone is a cracking addition. I haven't seen Airbourne or Diamond Head yet either. I'm edging closer to a Sonisphere ticket. Diamond Head before the Big 4 would be a corker!

I think a band like Lostprophets or MCR should precede Biffy, but the day currently lacks metal, and Rammstein or Combichrist would fill that gap nicely.

I like MCR but i dont think they'd go well at Soni. Lostprophets are good but their new album sucks balls.
And for the guy who called Madina Lake indie.. wtf seriously..
I've already got my ticket and i honestly can't wait all i need now is Alexisonfire and Five Finger Death Punch announced then i'll be a happy pickle.

Most of the people that go to this festival are paying customers of world of warcraft and collect dragons!

Why are you quoting Steel Panther? Their a parody band, a joke, they take the piss out of metal and rock music!

Most of the people mocking biffy clyro probaly think their this band that has juust emerged! Their the hardest working band of the last 10 years! Nt to mention their amazing live!

Just because they dont sing about death, or people equalling shit, nancy boys, sing in german, wear leather jackets dont hate them!

MCR emerged as a scene band, a band that sounded like every other fucking band at the time, they were just lucky enough to survive! Biffy on the other hand have their own unique sound (listen to ther early stuff - pre 2003 before you comment).

They deserve this slot, i saw them playing to a crowd of 50 before and they played like they sold the place out!

truth is MCR are possibly the worst band of the last 10 years. they r dreadful. they appeal to 12-17 year old scene prats with silly fringes and stupidly tight jeans. they are all about image whereas biffy are all about the music. they deserve the slot. kian u rock and all you other mongs..... do one

Kian, hypocrisy thy name is you. You can't go round stereotyping fans of a particular genre or particular bands. Yes as it happens, I'm into metal, I have a few dragon ornaments. However, I don't wear leather, don't believe in wizards or mythical dwarves. And it happens I'm happy with the entire Sonisphere line-up so far. Hell, they could chuck Dizzee Rascal on there and I'd still be happy. Calling yourself diverse and quoting 'truth' is a bit of an insult to both words - particularly as none of the bands announced so far quote or promote such magicry or fantasy in their lyrics.

For the record, Biffy deserve their slot, and the line-up as a whole is shaping up very nice, heavy or not.

@james, i partialy agree with your comment about mcr, i am not a fan. my sister on the other hand is, just because somone voices their distaste in a subculture does not determine whether they "rock" or not therefore "kian you rock" has little meaning. i do not take offence to your comments about the band. i do however take offence to anybody who is capable of writing in a coherent fashion referring to a group of young girls as "all you other mongs" especially when they have listed there ages as 6-17, please refrain from name calling as i will demand satisfaction (pistols at dawn, from ten paces). i am also a metal head and am partial to a bit of the old fisty cuffs... i do not sport the "silly fringe" and i find skinny jeans to be rather unpleasant as well as uncomfortable, neither do i play wow or d&d therefore your comments @KIAN are unsupported and without proof. this is coming from a 21 year old man the older brother of one of the young girls,

a large majority of my friends are attending this event and i only know of one who is an avid warcraft player, and he is into techno, dance, rap, indie, metal, and bands such as 30 secs to mars, afex twin, or slipknot, therefore approximatly 5% of those attending sonisphere are warcraft players.

steel panther are not a piss take band, they have stated that they pay homage to the eighties glam rock genra as they themselves are fans, they just happen to use a satirical lyrical form for there songs for entertainment purposes.

this is presicely why i dont like them. actually i appretiate a variety of music forms and enjoy the unique aspects of the bands that make it to a sucsessful stage in their careers within different genras. bands like biffy however just happen to fit neatly into the marketable genra of todays popular music, they may have started 10 years ago but now they are worth a pretty penny to music producers, managers and record lables.

Steel Panther are a parody band you arsehole! They dress obscenly crude! Leather and leopard print for fuck sake, thats a stereotype of 80's glam rock as not all bands dressed this way! Another reason that proves my point is that in interviews they all have different stereotyped personalities! For e.g. one of them is constantly doing his hair and comes across as stupid, one is really loud and cocky etc, mimiking bands like Van Halen and Montley Crue!

They are a parody band you dick they have said so themselves!

FYI! I was merely stereotyping the people that go to these things! MOst of the croud do sport shit goaties and wear ripped torn jeans and have long hair!

Also, I am not a huge fan of Biffy, its just alot of the people who say 'what the fuck, biffy are headlining!' are the type of people who have only heard Biffy after 2007! If you listen to the early stuff you'll find its heavy rock, even heavier than some of the other bands that are considered "metal". Biffy are prog rock or what ever the fuck you want to call them, but can play any bill!

No Big 4, no Slipknot. Simples. They pushed metal to be faster and heavier at a time when metal didn't have to be compromised. They're still bigger names than the majority of bands on the bill - Metallica are bigger than the entire line-up. They've sold more records and more tickets than any of these bands, hell, probably more than the entire line-up combined. If you did your research you'd understand why collectively they're the Big Four of Thrash Metal.

Which everyone could have a reasonable bloody discussion here without it descending into mindless name-calling, stereotyping and band bashing. Open your minds.

Everyone calm down:) Sonisphere will be awesome we have The Big 4 aswell as Slipknot Biffy Clyro Weezer In Flames :) Should be a great weekend and anyone who is going please watch Biffy Clyro there older stuff is very good so dont avoid them cause their mainstream music their older stuff is very good and if you like metal try SLIPKNOT ASWELL=D THEY ARE AMAZING LIVE:) - Aidan=D
