Vinnie Paul: "It's disrespectful to suggest reforming Pantera without Dimebag"

Vinnie Paul has revealed that Pantera will never reform, and he finds it "disrespectful" to his brother Dimebag Darrell, the band's late guitarist, for people to even suggest it.

Speaking to Russian website www.darkside.ru, Paul said:

"Dime was such a huge part of it that it would be just completely asinine to even consider that. He left an amazing legacy and it's going to be left untouched, it's beautiful, it's pristine and I want to leave it that way."

"I think it's pretty disrespectful from people to even suggest [reforming]," he added.

Dimebag was shot and killed on stage in Columbus, Ohio in December 2004 while performing with his and his brother's post Pantera outfit DamagePlan.

It isn't disrespectful you tool! All you would have to do its find a person who could play his stuff and play in honour of him, like Avenged Sevenfold and plenty of other bands.

Whats the big deal with holding onto the past? They're finished, grow up and get over it.

Understandable that he wouldn't want them to reform, but I wouldn't consider it 'disrespectful'. Their fans miss their music and would like to hear it again, its flattering.

Vinnie's right. It wouldn't feel right without Dimebag.

They should play a one of gig, but have several guitarists play with them who have been influenced by Dimebag, such as Zakk Wylde and Synyster Gates. Sort of how the Freddie Mercury Mercury tribute concert was done.

Although I understand his feelings, I can't help but wonder if he would say the same thing if, say, Rex Brown died instead of Dimebag. I mean, Rex is great but is definitely the least talked about member of Pantera (he is the bass player after all), and he was way overshadowed by Dime. If he died, would they have split up for good and say Pantera could never be the same without him? Or would have they just found another bassist and moved on? I hate how it all ended. I'm like Rex and refuse to point fingers, but maybe if all the bullshit with Phil never happened, Dimebag would still be alive and Pantera would still be around, continuing their legacy as one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time.
