Download just got bigger!

This summer's Kerrang!-sponsored Download festival just got a whole lot bigger!

In addition to announcing the festival's third headliners Def Leppard last night, festival organisers Live Nation have added 16 new bands to the bill!

Heading up the new additions are K! faves Bring Me The Horizon, Disturbed and Madina Lake.

"I'm really excited!" says Bring Me The Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes. "Download is the metal festival of the year, so it's just an honour to be asked; we feel like we're representing the English metal scene. I don't think the line-up has been this good for so many years and it looks set to be one of the best ever. It's going to be legendary!"

"Download has become a favourite for us among the European festivals," adds Disturbed frontman David Draiman. "It's like a reunion and a tournament all in one, showcasing some of the finest rock talent on the planet. We look forward, once again, to being a part of it."

"We can't fucking wait!" adds Madina Lake vocalist Nathan Leone. "You all have been so amazing to us [since] Matthew got hurt [in the June '10 assault which left him with a fractured skull, broken nose and jaw]. Honestly, [the UK fans] had a big part in his survival and recovery, so for him to walk out onto that stage for the first time since then will be an indescribably powerful moment for our band. We promise to deliver the best show Madina has ever played!"

Other new additions include The King Blues, Frank Turner, Bowling For Soup, All That Remains, Turisas, The Devil Wears Prada, Cheap Trick, Black Stone Cherry, Asking Alexandria, Sacred Mother Tongue, Jameson Raid, Ghost and Straight Line Stitch.

Tickets for Download 2011 are now on sale from www.aloud.com. Festival organisers Live Nation have confirmed that prices will remain the same for Download 2011 as they were last year. Weekend tickets cost £145, optional extras are priced as follows: camping tickets (three days) £25, camping tickets (five days) £35, family camping (three days) £25, family camping (five days) £35, car park passes £15 advance or £20 on the day, campervan £40 and lockers £11.

Need to see how it all fits in within the lineup and stage order etc before I decide to go
so far, would only see about 15 bands, which is alright but I want more, and if they clash I'd be buggered
SO SOMEONE DRAW UP AN ACCURATE LINEUP PLEASE!

Damn. Your download festivals used to make my American ass jealous compared to our weak shit "festivals" over here. Now I see a bunch of scene shit. The only worthwhile bands on that tour are Danzig, Gwar, Alice, and Clutch. My condolences.

P.S.
PLEASE keep System of a Down. We don't want them back.

download might have saved themselves with BMTH seen as though they slayed Sonisphere last year. And Disturbed will be fucking awesome. but ASKING ALEXANDRIA \m/

I am in no means a BMTH hater but to say they have just saved the pile of shite that is the download festival is a bit extreme. Read who's on the bill Oli and compare it to previous years and you shall see why it is not the best in years. Then again he has to try talk it up and shift the thousands of tickets that will be unsold. I have never known a festival to be so massively underwhelming. Poor show Andy Copping. Your arse has been well and truly handed to you this year by Sonisphere who are going to be laughing all the way.
P.s K!Favs - Madina Lake? That just sums up what this magazine has become.

Anybody seen the new line up poster yet? Disturbed that high up is hilarious. Download is failing. Maybe take a year off, take a good review of the festival and come back swinging the following year and build up excitement and a new passion amongst people for Download.

Frank Turner, id go just for him, ledgend, but he should be at the Lock Up in Reading/Leeds, where he belongs! but, BFS? what-the-f!@k?

Best anouncement so far, SOO glad about Frank Turner playing! And thinking about it, i much rather the bands at Download this year than Sonisphere!

So happy im goin to Soni, no offence but the download announcement is a load of shit. The only one i like is Disturbed and ive already seen them live. :)

Posted by sarah | February 23, 2011 12:35 PM | Reply to this

Bit of a mixed bag this one, but still ain't done enough to swing me towards Download. Sonispheare still looks the nuts.

Disturbed and Frank Turner are pretty good. Black Stone Cherry are always good at a festival. No idea what Cheap Trick and Bowling For Soup are like live.
Suprisingly like Madina Lake (go on, slay me). They put on a pretty good live show.

The rest I've either never heard or are just crap. Bring Me The Hairspray is the obvious ploy to get girls under 16 to come and look at Oli's pretty hair and tats for an hour. Sort it out -.-

BMTH what a brilliant band, more Screamo bands please, and no I am not under 16, shall we say over 30! Rather see Oli than craggy Alice Cooper who was crap at Sonisphere, never been so bored in all my life!

Bring Me The Horizon, Madina Lake, Avenged Sevenfold... probably a few other bands whose albums aren't even fit to wipe my ass with... Anyone up for an extreme backpacking tour following The Wiggles?

cities on fire

the future isn’t bright, the future isn’t free, the future is just another advertising campaign for the masses. an illusion of better days. our best time is ahead of us. don’t worry, everything will be just fine. everything heals with time. except it doesn’t. the future isn’t free, but it is right here, right now. ready for us to get our hands dirty and change its direction. the course of history is at anyone’s reach. except no one is reaching out.
the ancient dream of burning cities to the ground is obsolete. for we built these cities with our own hands and hopes. for we are the architects of our own misery. the ancient dream of burning cities to the ground is what it is: a dream. no one is carrying a torch, ready to burn the foundations of our seventeen story mistakes. instead of walls it is we who are falling apart. there is nothing left to burn except for ourselves.
yet our bodies might just do the trick. saturating every atom to the very last one of them. setting ourselves on fire. there is precisely nothing else to burn except for ourselves. what’s the use in bombing the moon and burning parliaments if we’re not ready to set ourselves ablaze. I’m talking auto-combustion of prejudices and preconceptions. I’m talking taking the only real power back. our own power of life. power of decision. power of choice. I’m talking action instead of reaction. I’m talking the coming insurrection inside our own skulls. I’m talking dancing to the rhythm of our hearts.
cities on fire. right here. right now.

Bmth? Are you seriously trying to fucking screw me download?

Posted by Ally | February 24, 2011 2:19 AM | Reply to this

What a shit announcment. Like someone said earlier, the only thing i'd like to see is Danzig, GWAR, AC, Clutch, Mr. Big and frank Turner

Soni has the 'big four', Protest The Hero, Machine Head, Volbeat, Mastodon, Motorhead, In Flames and some more announcments to come.

God damn scene kids have ruined Kerrang for me.

Why doesn't Andy Copping headline? He seems to think he's famous enough....
