Slash: "The Corey Taylor rumours have been blown out of proportion"

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has said that the rumours about Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor becoming their new vocalist have been "been blown out of proportion".

However, the guitarist will neither confirm nor deny that Taylor is the replacement for former frontman Scott Weiland who acrimoniously left the rock supergroup in 2008.

"A couple of people have said one thing or another, but it's been blown out of proportion," Slash told Australia's Courier Mail. "I've made no comment on that one."

Meanwhile, Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan has lavished praise on Taylor calling him "voice of a whole new generation."

"Not only does he have a great voice, he's got the ability to tap the dark stuff and have it be real," said McKagan. "Great lead singers have the ability to tap that. No inhibitions helps as well. [Former Guns N' Roses bandmate] Axl Rose and Scott Weiland are two of the best frontmen ever. Corey Taylor is one of those guys as well. He can tap it."

"He is a bad dude though," he added. "I like him as a human being and a singer. He's the voice of a whole new generation."

Okay, well that's a bit of a piss take really. When Corey just had Slipknot, 100% of all his anger, and frustration went straight into those albums, Slipknot, Iowa... then as soon as StoneSour come back? We get Volume 3, and All Hope is Gone. Corey, with 3 bands, your attention is going to be demanded too many ways, and the anger and pain that drives your vocals and songwriting is just going to get so diluted... My mate played me snuff and I thought it was Stonesour. Sort it out Mr. Taylor. Before Sonisphere?

its not the fact he was in more bands the reason his vocals have changed is because he has matured as a person and his life isn't something to be angry about anymore, he is happy with his life at the moment and that reflects in his lyrics It doesn't matter about which band he is in he will make music that reflects how he feels no matter if its slipknot or stone sour.
