Download add seven new bands!

The Pretty Reckless, VersaEmerge, and Evile are just some of the latest bands to be confirmed for this year's K!-sponsored Download 2011, which will take place at Donington Park in Leicestershire between June 10-12.

"I'm totally excited to be coming back to the UK and playing Download festival," The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen tells Kerrang!. "There are so many awesome acts on the bill, I can't believe that we're going to be one of them!"

"If there's one festival we've always wanted to play, it's Download," says Evile guitarist Ol Drake. "I remember watching footage of Sepultura playing Donington many years ago and wishing we could play there one day, and now we are! It's a huge honour. Come down and have some fast, loud and heavy fun with Evile!"

Other additions to this year's bill are Times Of Grace, Suicide Silence, Puddle Of Mudd and Your Demise.

"Everyone in the Times Of Grace family is very excited to play Download this year," says Times Of Grace vocalist Jesse Leach. "We've just started getting into the groove of things as a live band and I can foresee a very memorable experience!"

Tickets for Download 2011 are now on sale from www.aloud.com.

DOWNLOAD, READING, SONISPHERE ETC are all losing out by not adding out of the very best, most influential, original, and truly stunning heavy rock bands on the planet-KING'S X!! Let's be honest, they rock so much better than so many lesser bands, and so many supposed greater bands. Book them and rock out!

I totally agree.
I am a vetran of Donnington and have been going for many a year so it kills me to admit that yes, I seriuosly think "Download" has lost it's way.
I said it last year & it's bollock crushingly obvious again this year!

Posted by Jono | March 2, 2011 12:36 PM | Reply to this

well... that totally made up my mind. I wasn't planning on going before... but the pretty reckless? no thank you.

sorry download but for the line up you have i might as well go to like T on the beach or something.

What a FAIL!

Only Evile worth a dime out of that announcement. As effectively my hometown band, I've been rooting for Evile to play for years as a regular Download attendee. Now they're there, they stick out as one of only a few bands worth seeing in a festival ruined by Andy Copping and influenced too heavily by the sponsors - you heard that right, Kerrang and Radio 1.

I hope Copping resigns and someone with a bit more initiative and inspiration takes over, cos right now the festival is in a state, and has none of that Monsters of Rock feel to it.

Moan moan fucking moan. Don't you people get fucking bored of complaining about the lineup all the time!! Its a festival. It has to try and cater to everyones likes which I would imagine isn't easy! Theres always going to be bands you like and bands you don't. So watch the ones you like and not the ones you dont! It's pretty fucking simple!! Theres more to Download than the bands. Theres other entertainment as well. The comedy stage, Cinema, Village of the damned and the whole general atmosphere. Bottom line if you don't like it fuck off to some other festival designed for whiney fucks like yourselves. We don't want you at Download. Keep up the good work Mr Copping.

Does anyone know if they'll be doing day tickets this year?
There's one band that I really wanna see but not enough others that I'd want to buy a weekend ticket...

Theres a reason as to why this festival HARDLY NEVER sells out! Its because it has bands that are has beens or one it wonders!

Def Lepord, yeah their a good band but they played it last year! DESPERATE!

And alot of the other bands are just boring!

Fucking V Festival has managed a better rock line-up this year! And their more of a popular music festival!

Posted by Kian | March 3, 2011 10:22 AM | Reply to this

Well said @rob. I don't think half these people have ever been to a festival. You don't want too many bands you like playing because they might clash. Which does suck. So what there's a weak headliner.

The beauty of a music festival is that you may watch a band you never thought of seeing, and they might shock you by how good they are, and you may come away a fan. That happened to me every year at reading/download.

Posted by Ryan | March 3, 2011 11:30 AM | Reply to this

I can't say I agree with that. With the price of festivals these days what is bound to sway my opinion is the line up. If Sonisphere wasn't great I would more than likely be heading to Download, however I ain't feckin loaded and can only afford to go to one. So this year Sonisphere pipped it for me. Its of no disrespect to Download as I've always had a great time there.

Having said that though, with a bottle of vodka, I couldn't give a fuck where I am. I can have a good time regardless :)
