Josh Farro: "Novel American is very liberating"

In a world exclusive interview in this week's Kerrang! magazine, former Paramore guitarist Josh Farro says he and his brother Zac are excited about starting a new chapter in their lives with their new band Novel American.

"Yeah, we're taking it a day at a time," he told K!. "I've learned that it is so important to be in a band with other members who share the same vision and desire the same goals as you. It's very liberating. It's not like we're just writing songs to get on the radio and sell millions of records, we're just writing what we love and what sounds good, and we're loving it."

"I think there are gonna be a few [fans that] will not like it just because they're mad about the Paramore thing and we can't change that," he added. "I think the plan right now is to record a five-song EP, just to get kids hyped and excited. If they have an open mind, I think they'll like it."

Josh's different. I lost a big part of the respect that I had for him with that blog and the things that he've been saying. He's showing to be arrogant. Sure, I'll listen to Novel American, because he did great stuff for Paramore and may do great stuff in this new band too. But it won't ever be the same.
But I still love Zac.

honestly the amount of hard work ant commitment he showed for Paramore, I actually can't wait to hear anything from Novel American, I know Josh or zac or anyone from NA will release anything from their best. Don't get me wrong I love Paramore and always will but the fact that Josh was such a big part of it only excites me more, good luck and I love your playing, Chloe. :)

not going to deny that i'm made about what josh has said. it really angered me, but then someone pointed out that their was alot more that i didn't know about as i'm not in paramore. but i'm going to follow novel american, and hope them the best. can't wait to hear the 5 song ep.

Good luck to him :-) people move on all the time..it's part of life.. we dont stay in the same jobs forever hey! besides noone other then paramore truely knows what went on! if something isnt working you shouldnt stick at it for the sake of things, lets just be open to new bands :)

well ok since Josh & Zac left Paramore, I don't like them as much because to me they were Paramore a band, it was not just about Hayley & was gutted when they left & all the commotion about it but I will listen to their new music & I'm sure it will be good just they were a big part of Paramore & it's just not right now but well done for Paramore carrying on without them too I'll support them both :)

no, you guys got it all wrong, josh is an honest and deeply religious person and not a liar. he and zac were treated badly by the record company, and offically wernt even band members, just hired help ? and 7 years later even though they wrote all the songs with hayley, played on all the albums and did all the tours legally they wernt even a part of paramore ? (only hayley is offically a band member of paramore and has signed a record contract) and paramore is a band a which josh and zac started (and named). this wrong was never made right and so they felt they had to leave a band they had no official stake in. look again my friends, zac and josh are the victims here. i fucking hate greedy managers and record companys, thanks for f*cking it up for us fans.

I'll give more support to the NOVEL AMERICAN than PARAMORE. Paramore was sucks for now.

I'm not a 'hater' of Paramore, and I actually don't mind the Farro bros, I always thought they were the talent in the band, but... are we gonna hear about these guys everytime they take a piss? It's like Kerrang is reporting their every move. What about the hundreds of other new bands without any material? Will they get reported on every week? I think Kerrang should shine the light away from them at the moment and wait until they actually do something with it. I understand this is the first post about Novel American, just hope theres not another 3 reports in the next week about the Farro bros and what they've said/done/not done.

I'm sorry, but I bought this weeks issue of Kerrang! and the whole point of the article was to give the low-down on Josh's new band... Instead he just slagged off Hayley. Which is so pathetic. Ever since the naked Twitter pictures, I've lost quite a bit of respect for Hayley, but Josh is proving to be just as stupid. Josh even said he wanted to look to the future and not stay in the past... So why on earth does he keep bringing the ending of his relationship with Hayley onwards to December 18th up? And you notice in their departure statement, Josh speaks for Zac, I haven't actually heard Zac's opinion on leaving Paramore. I think they should all grow up.

Josh has changed. I don't like it. I feel like he doesn't think that the last 7 years mattered. I don't find that fair. I mean, Paramore and their fans are meant to be a family, and he does this. It just seems like he never gave a shit in the first place. Paramore changed lives, and he was a part of that, something amazing, and he just threw it away.

It's funny how everyone hates on Josh when he says he doesn't miss Paramore, but when Hayley tweets "honestly? it's so much better than i ever could've imagined. there's no tension. no stress. we are grateful" after being asked how it feels to have only 3 in the band, everyone is happy for her?

someone should just put all five of them in aq room together and lock the door so they have to make up, they've even admitted they want to be on talking terms again, it's like they're experiencing their teen years a bit too late. The little comments are ridiculous and the popularity got bigger because more people like their music now so surely that's a good thing then again hayley was obviously being a bit of a cow at times, but she is the frontwoman and the only girl in the band she always states she's in a band and not solo, and yes, i accept that she said this but did airplanes, that isn't part of paramore though. Either way, repeat what i said, lock them all in a room.

I hope Zac and Josh will go back to the band Paramore.. I'm so sad and shocked from the day that I found out this.. I hope Hayley will still be happy without you.. And I hope too that you'll find your conscience and go back to Paramore.. PARAMORE ROCKS!
