Dear Kerrang,
Is it too hard to put the whole of The Blackout on the front cover than just Sean and Gav?

Kudos for putting a Watain feature in there, and for a Rob Halford offering too. However, amongst the usual fare, it just seems like a token offering.

Great to see Gav and Sean on the cover however would have been nicer to see all of the boys there!

is it impossible to have the whole band on the cover or something? :/

Posted by Emma | March 23, 2011 2:57 PM | Reply to this

Why do kerrang always insist of only having one or two people from a band instead of the whole band?
And @Nick I agree that FFAF should get the cover (Y)

2 stars for the new panic! album? Okay. I'm sorry that Panic! can't live in 05' and keep recreating A Fever You Can't Sweat Out to keep your music critics happy (which is their weakest album btw). The entire review was dissapointing, not even touching on the instrumentation or Brendon's writing ability. Mainly focusing on how it's hard to think that 5/6 years ago this band actually had so much potential when in reality, as the years have progressed their albums have became better. (Pretty.Odd. being my favourite - one you gave 3 stars). Also, I don't think my grandparents would like this type of music. Yeah they'd totally LOVE Let's Kill Tonight, Hurricane, The Ballad Of Mona Lisa, Nearly Witches (Ever Since We Met...). Seriously, stop trying to make them out to be a joke. This is a brilliant album and the fact you named The Ballad of Mona Lisa one filled with imagination when it's actually one of the weakest on the album.. well that says it all doesn't it.

@ Jesaar, they said it was a pop metal album and I agree , they've now gone quite soft and mainstream with their music, within temtptation really need to go back to their mother earth sound, CELTIC metal!

Posted by Thebitchfromplanet13 | March 27, 2011 9:44 PM | Reply to this

I love the new album. It's def metal, which I love. I think they will explore the celtic sound they once explored, but what I love about the band is how they develop their sound. And with a concept like this, the sound of the music fits. It reminds me a soundtrack to a horror/suspense or thriller movie. And I have to admit, WT have NEVER been a metal band. Mother Earth was a lot softer in comparison to this new album, which is energetic in sound. Lots of guitars and drums. It's nice to hear more of these elements, verses strings and choirs on every single song. But OH, I do love Mother Earth. Shit, I love everything this band puts out, but this new album OWNS.

About the Within Temptation album review...

If the prior-to-release songs were anything to go by (Faster, Where Is The Edge and In The Middle of the Night), then I might've agreed with the 3-Star rating and less than enthusiastic comments. However, after listening to the entire album I'm quite disappointed that pretty much ALL of the other tracks weren't taken into account. I'd say Faster is the weakest song on the album, so am quite surprised they picked that to be the debut single from the Unforgiving. But as for the others...I don't think Within Temptation have lost their touch at all.

I agree that Iron is a fantastic song but think that credit was due for so many of the others: Fire and Ice? Lost? A Demon's Fate? and the rest. Absolutely fantastic lyrics, vocals and - as always - stunning instrumentals.

Perhaps not their strongest album, but I am disappointed that there was not praise given where it was due.

Please please can u help? i need to identify a band that has a song called Between A Rock And A hard place or Caught between a rock and a hard place. it came out around late 80s early 90s. it has a keyboard intro with what sounds like police sirens wailing in the background before it goes into the first guitar riffs. ive googled the song title but cant find the right artist. its NOT the rolling stones, ufo, cutting crew or any of them thar google throws up! i originally thought it was doro pesch singing on it..but i cud be wrong. it sounds like a power ballad. i think they are american! can u help? i originally heard it on the friday rock show years ago! thanx.
