Today (April 14) marks the one-year anniversary of Type O Negative frontman Pete Steele's death.
The singer tragically passed away as a result of heart failure aged just 48.
Steele was a larger than life character (literally - he was 6' 8" tall) with a black sense of humour and one of the most recognisable voices in metal. We still miss him, but his lasting legacy lives on.
Check out a couple of Type O's videos below and raise a glass to The Man Of Steele today.

Unlike so much of the dross that passes through this site, Pete was a truly inspirational man and a complete musical genius at that. RIP.

A worthwhile - but sad - news story from Kerrang for once!
I never got to see Type O Negative live but loved there music.
Pete Steele was one in a million and one of the music world's original artists.

Such a loss...a unique voice that could never be replaced, R.I.P. Pete Steele

Pete Steele and Type O Negative were truly an inspiration for me, a gateway into doomier waters. Pete's vocals were unique, the music stood out a mile away, and that truly defiant attitude - all qualities lacking sorely in so much music today. I wish I could've seen them live too, the live footage on YouTube is incredible.
R.I.P. Pete, long may the music live on.

It seems like yesterday when that horrific news was the very 1st thing I saw in the a.m. </3 Peter was sch a nice gy! He hgged & was so genuine w/his thank yous. Ifeel fortnate 2have grown p in Detroit where they played so often & was able 2 enjoy many shows. I wish I cold give that experience 2 everyone. Autumn will forever be Peters season. The lyrics from Everything Dies "I'm searching for something which can't be found, bt I'm hoping...." gives me chills. I wish there had been a memorial for fans 2go2. No one ever can replace his lyrics, voice, humour & ability 2play a stand up bass as a reg Bass... His fans will NEVER let his memory die.. Many great interviews on YT including 1 where he talks of becoming a practicing Roman Catholic & the defination of why the last album was called "Dead Again" Truely a legend. Halloween in Heaven which he wrote for Dimebag... now those 2 are playing on the big stage in Heaven <3 one day we will all see them again. RIP Peter--you are NOT forgotten xo
