Remembering Paul Gray

Today (Friday, April 8) would have been Paul Gray's 39th birthday.

The Slipknot bassist tragically passed away on May 24 last year, but we've decided to pay tribute to his life and his music in this week's Kerrang! magazine with our ultimate countdown of Slipknot's 20 best anthems instead.

Paul's wife Brenna would not only like to thank you all for voting for your favourite tracks, but she also wants to thank you for all the support you've given her and Paul's family, friends and band mates over what has been a very difficult year.

"This issue is not only dedicated to Paul, his birth, his life, and his legacy - but to each and every one of you," she said. "Thank you for everything.Your commitment, your support, and your loyalty throughout the good times and the bad are what will keep Paul alive in all of us.

"I can't wait for you all to read the stories behind the songs, and I am extremely excited about the upcoming Slipknot tour this summer," she added. "Paul dedicated his life to Slipknot, so let's all sing our hearts out and let his music live on through us forever."

@PickleSmoocher show a bit of respect. Regardless of your opinion as a bassist you have to accept that his death was sad news to a lot of people including me.

It was a sad day when I heard the news that Paul Gray had passed away. But on what would have been his birthday I am going to remember the good things about his life and all the fun and joy he brought to a lot of people's lives (including mine). Although gone, Paul Gray will always live on through Slipknot's excellent music and that is what I hold on to.

Paul Gray was a talented and amazing bassist i still miss him till this day and of cause Jimmy the rev. my heart goes out to paul wife and his brothers(slipknot ) and family. U were a legend, and inspiration to so many people, and it is so sad that you never got a chance to meat your daughter. I will never forget your legacy, and slipknot will never be the same.
