30 Seconds To Mars to go on hiatus?

30 Seconds To Mars have hinted that they are to go on hiatus.

In an interview with MTV Canada, the band - who have been nominated for four awards at the forthcoming Kerrang! Awards 2011 Fuelled By Relentless Energy Drink on June 9 - suggested that they were to take a lengthy break following their world tour.

"We've been touring a long time man," said drummer Shannon Leto. "I mean, look at us. We're broken down, sugar. We're tired."

When quizzed on whether the band were calling it a day or simply taking a break, the drummer joked: "Nah, we'll probably just take a break for, I don't know, 10 years."

"A decade always seems to take the edge off," added his brother, frontman Jared Leto.

This news comes just two weeks after Jared told Kerrang! that the band may not record a follow-up to 2009's This Is War.

The band will play the Reading and Leeds festivals in August.

I don't know, My Chemical Romance didn't record an album for four years. They took a break in between of a year / two years and still managed to record an awesome record. 30STM can't expect to have all their fanbase in ten years time. Unlike, let's say, if Green Day went on hiatus or something. Jared is too full of himself.

I actually love 30 Seconds To Mars but have not been lucky enough to see them in concert yet. If this is true I hope it isn't for a long time, their fans will be gutted. :(

People do need to calm down. And so do the magazines and websites, like this one. They might have a little break, of about 1 year or so but do you blame them?

They'll come back with a new record. Trust. They will. They'll go all quiet again which will suck!!! But they'll defo make another record.

Amazing talented passionate band. Just too much ego which results in these sort of stupid remarks from Jared. Massive Leto fan but the guy is a complete prick at times

I'm not a major fan of 30STM, I liked their albums before This Is War but meh i'll leave it at that..

But Emma Greenday have ego's too, they had to go to band therapy pre american idiot because Billie Joe's ego was out of control & ruining the atmosphere in the band

I am gutted about the news they've putting out lately. No more albums? How can that be?! They're albums are epic and have real intelligence and motive behind them. Please 30STM just take a couple of years off and then come back with everything you've got! Don't forget about your Echelon! X

NOOOOOOOOO 30STM cant just dissapear. They need to take a break as long as they need and come back bigger better and stronger. Yeh Jared can be a prick and they usualy always joke but thats why we love them. Give them time. Trust. Theyll be back. Love you guys. :) :P :D

i don't have anything against 30stm. but i am pretty sick of them at this point in time.

i think if they were to go away for 3 years or so, i would be excited for the comeback tour. whereas if they announced another tour tomorrow, i probably wouldn't bother going.
i'm sure the band deserve a break at this stage as well, it can't be easy to lead a "normal" life when you're on the road 99% of the time.

they will definitely be back. jared will not be able to avoid the spotlight. trust me.
and the impending hiatus will hopefully mean their R&L performance will be a standout one.

I'll miss 30stm if they do go on hiatus but I highly doubt it will be for 10 years, they are clearly just exaggerating there. Maybe they'll just take a few years off. I look forward to seeing them at Reading this year.

they're joking! yes, they'll probably take a break for a couple of years but if that's what they need to produce another kick-ass record, then so be it! They won't be gone for 10 years, and honestly? I don't think they'll ever really be gone. Anyway, even if they were to be gone, the Echelon will still support them. I'm really not worried at all and neither should the rest of the fanbase. We're a family and the music is what brings us together-they won't split up after all of this success and support.

this is so upsetting! i love 30stm and i've been a fan for years now and im lucky enough to have seen them already and im seeing them at leeds fest but i guess the bright side is that they're not breaking up :) and its all happening with good feelings :) i'll be here when they come back :) lets just hope they aren't on hiatus for too long!

Seems that they a bit to full of themselves. If there thinking about going on hiatus they should tell the fans straight instead of coming out with new things all the time. If there taking a break they should just say the fans deserve that surely? Its the way that there saying about these things that is so annoying they can't just keep people hanging on.

@Sam.. Oh ok Mr :) Im not hating on you, :P I'm just sick of them being pasted all over KERRANG! for the past four years thats all! KERRANG! is based here in the UK would be nice to see them support the local metal/rock scene alot more.. America have BigCheese, im not saying they shouldnt report on bands such as MCR,30STM.. Just not every fucking Wednesdays! Miss the good old days.. :(

This is not true, they just need a break. They're seriously fucking talented and Jared is not full of himself, he's a confident funny guy who has the most interesting ideas and actions i've ever seen !! I used to think he was just one more pretty boy from hollywood, until I found out he was the lead singer of 30STM ! He's actually a pretty intense actor, no fails to point , and in all interviews he seems humble and playful !! You guys are just losers that envy him.

30 seconds to mars have done alot & they do put effort into what they do i dont blame them, they make videos,albums & they tour to make money so we can enjoy them more i think we should all stick by them no matter what people say about them, "jared shan & tomo" we are behind you all the way x
