30 Seconds To Mars emerged as the big winners at the Kerrang! Awards 2011 Fuelled By Relentless Energy Drink tonight (June 9).
Jared Leto's band walked away with two awards - Best International Band and Best Single (for Hurricane) - at the star-studded ceremony, held at The Brewery in East London, and hosted for a third consecutive year by Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian.
The evening also saw Ozzy Osbourne honoured with the Kerrang! Legend award. As Birmingham's own Prince Of Darkness was onstage with his band in Tampere, Finland on June 9, his award was collected on the night by son Jack. But the Double O did take time to record a special video message for guests in the room, who rose as one to give him a standing ovation in his absence.
"I'm so sorry I can't be with you all tonight to celebrate these awards with you," said Ozzy. "Thank you so much for this award and making me a legend at last! To Kerrang! and all my loyal fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all and I really mean it. It means so much to me. Thank you very, very much."
Among the other winners at the 18th annual K! Awards ceremony were Asking Alexandria (Best British Newcomer), Black Veil Brides (Best International Newcomer), Biffy Clyro (Classic Songwriter), Bring Me The Horizon (Best Album), and My Chemical Romance (Best Video, for the futuristic sci-fi-themed Na Na Na).
