Blink 182: "We hated each other"

Blink 182 have opened up about the reasons behind their split in 2005.

Speaking to Radio One, the punk rockers' guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge explained: "The reason the band broke up was really stupid in the first place, it's not like anybody had sex with each other's wives, though for how bad we hated each other that should have been what happened."

''The band got so big that the machine running the band took over," added Tom. "We were burnt out, we needed a break, but the machine won't let you do that. The band had stopped communicating because the machine was so big."

The ban recently announced that their upcoming new album will be entitled Neighborhoods. ''The album's amazing," says Tom. "If you like our music, it's our best work by far."

"It's very modern," says the vocalist, "very relevant to rock music today, but we made sure to throw a couple of songs in there that sound like they're from the mid 90s. It's gigantic, it's made for big places."

This confirms what I thought all along. Tom wants to shag Mark and Travis' wives.

Not looking forward to the album after the release of the single. These guys used to be my all time fav band, and since Up all night, I would rather listen to Enya. Tom should not be allowed to be in the song writing process in Blink. Save his skills for the crappy other band.

I CANNOT WAIT! I saw there last show at the Wembley Arena and it was one of the best I have ever seen! Have always been a fan! Glad you guys sorted your shit!

ive been their fans since i was 9, when they split i cant help but crying, but after listened to Up All Night a few days ago, again, i can do nothing but cried. all i know, that their work is gonna be HUGE! they work always the best :D blink 182 for life.

It's stupid the way everyone is hating on the new song, what was you all expecting? Enema of the State Pt. 2?

I say good on them for taking the chance by coming back with something different to their older stuff, and for me it's paid off. Great song and it has me excited for the new album!

Blink are my favourite band ever. I love everything they have ever done. Boxcar racer is one of my favourite albums, but I just can't get into angels and airwaves. I like toms voice as it's so different, but in AVA it's too whiney!! And I'm really worried that the new album will sound too much like AVA. He should just sing like he did before, without really trying. I am still so excited for the blink album though, just a little bit nervous too!!

Fair enough people are saying it's good they're moving on to new stuff but even when bands do progress you can always detect some of their old stuff the new blink song just sounds like a track from an angels and airwaves album i'm disappointed yet.

I'm not sure how you can say it just sounds like an angels and airwaves track. Sure it has toms voice, which I believe is toned down in whininess from AVA, but the main riff is so much heavier than not only AVA, but also anything blink have done before. There are a few synth effects but there were in blinks last album, so u can't say it's blink being AvA, it's blink carrying on from where they left off.

was over the moon about the new album, then heard the song 'Up All Night'.... Kinda feel let down, i understand music changes in different eras but this is too much of a jump for me.

Okay, I really liked blink 182 but to be honest I think they need to grow up now!! They've been saying that they're coming back for like a year! They had tour dates then canceled on they're fans, and not only did they move the dates but they moved them to a year later!! They seen to think that because of everything they were they can just come back and so whatever the fuck they want! But if I were them I'd be trying extra hard to work the fans back because they haven't treated the fans good enough, and now they keep going on about the past when all people want to know is why they can't see them already!!

The best parts in Up All Night are the ad libs Mark repeats and that one line he does. Toms voice is annoying but okay sung to the right tune, to this song its awful. I think Mark should be singing all the way!!!
