Slaves To Gravity to disband

London-based rockers Slaves To Gravity have announced plans to disband following their appearance at the Relentless Freeze Festival on October 28.

"After five incredible years, we're sad to announce that STG is calling it a day," said the band in an official statement. "We've had an amazing ride, but after an innumerable amount of setbacks the time has undoubtedly come to move onto pastures new. We still love each other very much and remain fiercely proud of the music we made. We're just sorry there won't be any more.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. You've made it a magical experience that we will never forget."

The band - who feature guitarist/vocalist Tommy Gleeson, guitarist Mark Verney, and bassist Toshi Ogawa - won the Best British Newcomer gong at the 2008 Kerrang! Awards. Their second album, Underwaterouterspace, was released in April.

@STG Everyone who has ever met you and seen you guys play knows how great you are. An amazing live band. All I can say about the haters is that they have no fucking taste in music!

I think Underwaterouterspace is the best rock cd of 2011! Foo Fighers Wasting Light was close, and from what I've heard so far, Jane's Addiction's new cd will be right up there too.

Being a US fan, I've never seen STG live but was really into both "Scatter The Crow" and the Ga Ga's "Tonight The Midway Shines". The music on Underwater... was the best yet. I would have used a different cd title and cover art but it's a tough market out there for sure. Even better known groups like the great Wildhearts have found it difficult to break in the US.

Best of luck to you STG. You gave it your all and the proof is in the excellent cds you released. High quality indeed. Bravo!!!

Sad times. I mostly knew of you guys through Jason, your original drummer, I met him after he had to part from STG but from his stories and his personality, you are the most down to Earth guys and I'm sure you'll be successful with whatever you try next. Use your talents.
P.S. you've gotta release a break-up song.

Two brilliant albums, always fantastic live, and such lovely guys, too.

I'm gutted that STG are calling it a day; the industry will much the poorer for their absence.

Such a shame that all the best bands break up! Saw these guys at Sonisphere in 2010 and they were brilliant, deserved so much more attention! Good luck with everything STG :)
