Having made a huge impact on the world with their latest album, Wasting Light, the Foo Fighters have now gone truly seismic - literally. When they were playing their last gig of the tour at Auckland, New Zealand's 50,000 capacity Western Springs stadium, the band rocked out so hard that nearby monitoring stations in Herne Bay and Eden Park detected tremors consistent with those generated by a volcanic event.
It was only the fact that the shaking coincided with the band's performance that made it clear this was not a natural phenomenon. According to the GeoNet blog, the monitoring stations noticed "lulls in the signal between the songs and peaks in signal intensity during the songs".
With progress already being made on the follow-up to Wasting Light, it remains to be seen if the band can repeat this momentous feat again next year.
