Calling all aspiring Kerrang! writers!

How would you like the chance to win a 12-month contract with Europe's largest magazine empire? ITV2 are looking for six young people to take part in a brand new show and win the opportunity to work with the teams behind Kerrang!, More, Heat, Closer, FHM, Empire, and more.

You'll get the chance to interview bands, attend sold out shows, red carpet premieres and gain first-hand experience of how a magazine is put together.

Do you think you have what it takes? You don't need media qualifications to enter - just raw talent.

If you'd love to work in the world of magazines and you're aged over 18, then register for an application form by emailing apply@twofour.co.uk with 'ITV2/Bauer show' as the subject header. Good luck!

No!!! I'm an aspiring writer, and I saw this and thought "Yes! At last, a chance to get some experience!" and then I read that I had to be over 18.

Damn.

Lol, some of these comments have really bad grammar/spelling sooo... Maybe Kerrang should think twice about having "aspiring writers" work for them.

That being said, I'd love to write for you guys, haha. I have great grammar and spelling skills and am even minoring in communications! Look at that.

Posted by Pan | January 17, 2012 7:37 PM | Reply to this

Love being 18 ;) Very doubtful I would win though - I never win anything :(

Posted by Rachel Colley | January 17, 2012 8:03 PM | Reply to this

Shows the age range of this site, it says over 18 for a reason, dumbasses! They wouldn't legally be able to offer a year long internship to a kid. Besides to be a decent journalist you need a little something called a DEGREE and then additional journalistic qualifications that take another couple of years to gain. By writing young people in the header they are getting the hopes up of all you whipper-snappers who quite frankly probably couldn't write your way out of a paper bag, let along survive the dog-eat-dog world of journalism in addition to be being filmed reality TV style while you stress your little brains out. Quit moaning you can't apply and focus on finishing school first, hopefully by then Kerrang will have dug itself out of the turd filled hole it has sunk into!

Posted by andymark | January 17, 2012 8:42 PM | Reply to this

i love how half these people aren't 18 shows how much kerrang has gone down

Posted by alex | January 17, 2012 8:57 PM | Reply to this

So so gutted!!! I'd give anything to be 18! I know I'd be pretty good for it as well. My dream is to pretty much work for you guys some day! Guess I'll just have to take the Uni path...

Posted by Franchesca | January 17, 2012 9:16 PM | Reply to this

aaaw god donut haha, i love writing and this is the kind of oppurtunity i'd kill for, sucks to be a july baby, always too young for everything (not that i'm wishing my life away) working with Kerrang! would be the best thing that could ever happen to me, aside from spontaneously becoming musically talented and then being featured in Kerrang! of course :P

I sent my email :) waiting for an application form now :)

Posted by hazz | January 18, 2012 10:57 AM | Reply to this

Not many readers of Kerrang will be able to apply for this as the magazine is only aimed at 14 year olds.

Posted by Froghorn | January 18, 2012 1:14 PM | Reply to this

The 'over 18' part kills it. I'm 16 ^

Posted by Nikki | January 18, 2012 4:52 PM | Reply to this

I'm over 18, and would love to take part in a competition like this but I have other commitments that mean I can't do this, but the organisers have missed the boat with this.

I thought Kerrang and such were aimed at a teenage audience from like 13 years older ? Surely they have to do something to involve them.

Posted by Grant Reid | January 18, 2012 7:15 PM | Reply to this

@froghorn True say

Posted by j shadows | January 18, 2012 8:02 PM | Reply to this

@andymark and @alex
Too true - if there were less shitty bands like All Time Low and Asking Alexandria around then we would have a good Kerrang. But no... Clearly the good old days of Korn and Slipknot have gone out of this childish magazine, to be replaced with shitty pop-punk :(

why oh WHY is my birthday in July??? :( looks like i'll still be taking the long route with my music journalism degree come september then. what a shame, such a great opportunity

Posted by Rebecca Elvidge | January 19, 2012 8:23 AM | Reply to this

Didn't know you could do a "music journalism degree".

Sounds like one of those Mickey Mouse courses !!

Posted by MPD | January 19, 2012 8:47 AM | Reply to this

This page is 100% proof that Kerrang is only read by 15 year old school kids nowadays. Le Sigh.

"I was flicking through the TV channels last night and on 2 occasions they were playing videos by Young Guns on Scuzz.

Bloody hell, they were shit !"

Do I get the job ?

Posted by Sanne | January 20, 2012 1:30 PM | Reply to this

I have sent an email and hope to hear back, being out of a job soon, and to be able to give something back to the music industry and help more fans etc would be great. I really hope I hear back. Good luck to everyone applying.

Just sent off email. Would be cool to win it. Very funny about the under eighteens moaning about it being for over eighteens only, like their parents would let them quit school just to become an intern. Haha.

Posted by beckie | January 31, 2012 2:48 AM | Reply to this

Okay, people, serioulsy?
Is it really that bad that Kerrang! targets a younger audience aswell.
To be honest, without us 'school kids' rock music would die out! Even if it has changed scince the 80's it's still rock!
Get over it!
Remember when you got into rock? How old were you ten, about the same age?
The 'rockkids' already get enough shit from the 'chavy kids' at school, so would you just get over yourselfs and accept the change? Kthax. Xoxo
