Beastie Boys co-founder Adam 'MCA' Yauch has passed away. He was 47 years old.
Yauch was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, and was subsequently treated for a tumour in his parotid gland and a lymph node. His treatment and convalescence delayed what was to be the New York hip hop trio's last release, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two (2011).
It is not known whether his death is connected to the illness.
He is survived by his wife Dechen Wangdu and his daughter, Tenzin Losel Yauch.
