sabbath issue? why is this not it?

Posted by sid | May 22, 2012 3:26 PM | Reply to this

Haha a black sabbath issue would not go down well with the teen girl readership and their love of these boyband rejects.

Seriously why is the readership as thick as fuck. Liking terrible, dull, sounds like a cat getting strangled music just because they have masturbatory fantasies in the middle of the night over some ugly fuck that is their apparent saviour.

If there wasn't a record company paying good money to media outlets like Kerrang, shoving these terrible half-arsed bands down everyone's throats, they would be nothing. "Look kiddies this band is totally hip today. This is the new band to love obsessively for the next year or so until they get too old or the gimmick wears off, then we have the replacement bunch of saps to milk for your perversions"

I hate that music is so dumbed down. There's so many excellent bands in the metal genres that Kerrang (and other media outlets) won't show or promote. Not that any Kerrang turd would give them any attention cause they need to be told what they like as they haven't got a brain to seek and appreciate the good stuff out there.

@smartenoughnottoputmynamehere, that is easily the greatest and most outstandingly accurate comment ever posted on any site.

I applaud your genius.

Finally! No BVB and some decent bands!

Posted by Sophie | May 22, 2012 3:40 PM | Reply to this

@smartenoughnottoputmynamehere and The Messiah

Look guys it's quite clear that Kerrang is targeting the more teen market with coverage on pop-punk, emo-pop and contemporary metal with a bit of classic rock, hardcore and other metal thrown in.

If there were no other options then I'd be annoyed, but there are: if you are not a teenager and want a bit more substantial reading on rock, metal and punk and it's more 'alternative' and unsigned bands check out ROCK SOUND. If you want exclusively metal including metalcore/extreme metal etc then check out METAL HAMMER.

It's that simple!

When some issue includes giant posters, there's always a My Chemical Romance poster. Why?! I'm so sick of it! There are so many other bands in the world but you just have to put the MCR on a poster. It would be so nice to have a poster of Korn, for example. So please, put other bands on the posters too! Not just My Chemical Romance.

Posted by Hazard | May 22, 2012 4:57 PM | Reply to this

Well To be honest It's gonna be my favourite Kerrang so far. Because they're my favourite bands, so you know. I need this now today, I don't think I can wait till tomorrow, been waiting for this day for awhile.

Ive been a Kerrang reader and collector since the early-mid 1990s. I bought it cos of Nirvana, and the Grunge scene, which I was obsessed with, and its still a major part of my life.

The magazine then, despite the overtaking of the Alternative Revolution stuck to its hard rockkin roots, not forgetting the bands that helped it through the 80s.
In the late 90s, it was still a great mixmag of treats- the Metallicas and Panteras sharing center stage with the Nu Generation. #And while I understand that the magazine has to cater for the changing times, I must indeed agreed with the words flung at it reagading the same scene bands in it week in week out now.

I think if you asked the staff honestly what theyd like to feature themselves more, youd get a diverse array of bands, much like say, what it was over ten years ago. So why the same teeny rock bands today, then? Because like it or not, thats what sells. Years ago, Kerrang didnt give a fuck about this as much= youd get everyone from Metallica to even bands like Emperor and Queens of the stone Age getting the cover. But in an age where internet gets the hot stories and coverage first=magazine sales aint as big therfore ,kerrang has to dish out the same ol shite about the same bands-to keep its knowing demographic buying. And the majority of readers these days listen to those same bands. Lamb of God may indeed for instance get a three page article in an issue , but BVB will get the cover for a less relevent, smaller story, cos the kids wont buy it if Lamb of God grace the frontline. Sad, but True.

Scuzz should make a magazine they wouldn't have pussy shit in it every week like this does!

Surelly kerrang just keeps up with the trends. so if shit VileBrides or My Chemical Toilet are in so be it. Save yourself £2.20 and don't buy that issue wait until there is something that intresteds you.
Saying that 30STM WORKING WITH LADY GAGA?????. WHY CAN'T THE MUISC WORLD GO ONE DAY WITHOUT MENTIONING HER AND HER STUPID GIMMICKS. I beieve that was a fly off the wall comment made by Jared when asked about collaborations( just because they did it before doesn't mean that are going to do it again). The question do you want to work with lady gaga seems like a compulsory question now a days ( I laughed if someone said NO I CAN'T STAND THAT BITCH) So don't make a big fuckin issue out of becuase there is not a shread of evidence to suggest otherwise. and if I'm wrong I SHALL BURN EVERY 30STM THING I OWN.

I am thoroughly tired of all this trolling. As the comment above says: Kerrang are just keeping up with the trends. If you think about it, the majority of readers will be fans of BVB and MCR, so K! will put them in to make more money. The editors don't care about what music is good, they care about how much money they roll in, and if that means doing issue after issue about these bands for the fangirls, then so be it. If you don't like it, move to another magazine. But among this trash, K! does have a few interesting stories to offer, so I guess for now we shall have to put up with MCR, BVB + YM@6 week after week until the fangirls reach an age to realise there is better music out there.

Has anyone noticed lately that there's barely any cover stories with actual bands anymore? It's always the top 100 teen heart-throb shit list or reasons behind the pop-punk songs for the kiddies.

Maybe not just older readers are snubbing this magazine because of the decrease in it's quality, maybe bands are actually taking notice & don't want to feature in Kerrang?

Anyway, I enjoyed the last two issues because they were genuinely okay & devoid of BVB/YM@6 whoring, hell, I even believed K! might be shaping up. Obviously not, this week is back to the same old, shame.

The sooner K! realize the older fanbase will stay loyal while the teenage girls they're targeting will pander to whatever magazine has a pretty picture of the frontman they're obsessed with, the sooner K! will become good again. A majority of people are sick of seeing You Me At All Time Horizon Brides.

Will not be getting this issue, or any that mirror it's contents in future.

And yet again You Me At Six are in Kerrang, Josh Fran-whats-his-face is in my (and many others opinion) over-rated! Same with All Time Low, same with Parawhore!

Why do I subscribe to Kerrang? I do wonder ...

Gary's got it nailed

Read the converge article, maybe look at the reviews then put the mag back on the shelf. I'm not paying £2.20 every week to read what Josh, Andy & Oli have been up to.

Down with the Josh-O-Meter!

Unfortunatly lads, those same bands will be covered to death, until time moves them on-the scene will change, and Kerrang will search high and low for the next best thing to plaster all over the covers-- happens all the time, and especially so over the last 10 years or so.

Bands like funeral for a friend, staind, and Aiden, especially fucking Aiden were on the cover all the time not so long ago. But when the scene changed again, kerrang pushed them aside and now you bearly read about them anymore, the same applys to loads of other bands.

Jesus, even top selling and former regular cover stars like Foo Fighters and red hot chilli peppers make the news in the mag these days. Im agreeing with the Messiah and everyone else here- it really is the same oul' fucking things every week.

But, as I said earlier here= thats what sells. Aint no way these days a copy of Kerrang would sell as much, or generate as many comments up here with say Lamb of God on the cover, as somebody like 30 seconds to Mars.
You guys really should look up, and order some Klassik Kerrangs online- amazon, or wherever, to see how it was before. Korn on the cover one week, maybe the Foos the next, or maybe Garbage, or Cradle of Filth, or somebody like Bon Jovi, even.

Things were different then- not as many rock mags, music stations out there, and Kerrang covered everything all the time. It was great seeing different bands getting a title shot at the cover. Now though, they gotta play it safe for sales and maintaining its core readership, despite them wanting to shake things up a bit themselves.

The Bottom Line is that the likes of ym@6, bmth, bvb , and the rest of em will slowly but surely eased outta the headlines over time, as the magazine sets its sights on the next trend to cover. And then we will all give out about them next!!!!!

I really do advise those that are tired of the magazine to read what little coverage that put on the bands you care about and put it back.
The Converge piece only took couple minutes to read.

"The only problem is that all time low arent in every magazine!! There should be all time low posters every week and i dont know just more all time low!! " - I don't even need to say anything because this is the exact kind of attitude that is making Kerrang shit.

"Ok why the frack are people still buying kerrang if the DO NOT like it?!" - because once upon a time it was a good mag, & us older readers want it back to that state.

All in all, I bet you're 13-17 years old, overweight, wear luminescent skinny jeans and have a profile bio that goes something like "OMG SO RANDUM JOSH 4 LYF FUK DA H8RS I LUV U 4EVA JOSH

Bella, you're right, you're a dumb fucking cunt, but you're right. Kerrang is essentially a kid's magazine and the times have indeed moved on... Back to the 80's, with more make-up, less talent and a fuck-ton of over-obsessed loved-up attention whores.

It's sad, there are some good bands out there right now, but their careers are about as long as the attention spans of their ever-so annoying "fans".

I hate you all.

Well Messiah, being only 21 myself I also find that I'm fighting a losing battle here.

I think it may finally be time to give up on K! the website & magazine both, which is quite sad since I've been a loyal reader since 2002. What once was a reliable source for music has now become the go-to gossip mag for 13 year olds obsessed with hollow, radio-pop bands masquerading as rock acts.

I didn't want to give up on K! I really tried to find something redeemable in the last 3-6 months of their issues but I just can't bring myself to say anything positive about them.

Still, I've been reading Metal Hammer & Rocksound for just as many years as K! & they continue to produce quality issues. So it seems I'll stick with them from now on.

farewell K!
subscription as of now is terminated.

Imagine how I feel- Im 32 and have been reading Kerrang and buying regulary since 1994!!
I still appreciate reading the occasional feature, or review about bands that I used to read about all the time in the mag, even if they get less cover coverage than the staff would really like to award them.

Theres no way it could go to how it was even around ten years ago- with loadsa different bands shaking things up on the cover all the time. It just wouldnt sell unfortunatly.

I can accept that because of the change in times, and with the instant access to music and bands in the digital age surpassing waiting for a magazine each week to tell us about things, that the Kerrang I used to kollect is long gone,- like I said earlier, it plays it safe with the same bands because they know that its target demographic only really are interested in those bands- until the current readership grow older, and broaden into different bands and music in general.

Thats when things will shake up again with newer, younger bands taking over the current ones. Just again, as I said- former hyped up cover stars like Aiden are hardly in it these day, cos its intended fanbase moved away.
Same will happen to BvB and the others over the next few years.

I'm getting irritated with Kerrang because this issue never arrived. I got the next one, but I never got this one and it bugs me so much. -.-

What's with all the You Me At Six...EVERY SINGLE ISSUE? Is someone related to someone in the band or something? 1. They suck
2. People want variety
Come on, guys.

Ok, I can see that everyone has different opinions but:

Just because you like a band doesn't mean anyone else does and the same goes for thinking the opposite.
There is no real mention of the stuff in the issue on here, just how much everyone hates MCR and BVB and ATL.
Everyone thinks 'Thier' band is the best, so you're all fighting a losing battle there.
It's kind of sad you don't have anything else to do than slag off other bands.
However, no-one really cares about how much you 'luurve --- I'm so gonna marry him someday his bandmates will be like my brothers and the whole magazine should be about them.' If you want that, go tell them to make their own magazine ALL ABOUT THEM.
Anyway, everyone has different music tastes and always will and have. When this generation of fan-girls grow up, another will be born. This is how stuff works now. It will never be the same again.
Move on.
