We Are The Ocean: Dan Brown's official statement

Earlier this week we reported on the news that We Are The Ocean vocalist Dan Brown had left the band.

Dan has contacted Kerrang! to issue his own official statement on the matter:

"I'd like to firstly apologise to all the fans for my swift departure from We Are The Ocean," says Dan.

"I have been managing the band for the past two years and I've come to the realisation that, quite frankly, I'm better at managing a band than I am at being in a band, so it's time for me to attack that head first."

"Thank you for making my journey so incredible. You guys pay our bills, pay for studio time and put petrol in our van. No band should ever lose sight of that."

@nope.....I can't say i agree with you calling him arrogant :S. Any time i met him he was always really nice, pleasant and happy to talk.
I'm glad to see he's still gonna be involved with the band though and i'm sure they'll carry on fine as a 4-piece. They've been moving in a new direction for a while and it didn't quite suit him.

well at least he didn't totally left the band. Dan will still be around, just not singing anymore

Good luck to Dan and We Are The Ocean for the future!

Have met the lads a few times and they are all great guys who have a lot of time for their fans.

Looking forward to their new album and tour later in the year x

What about Download? Danny is the one I go to see. The band without him will be just another band. I've met him and he's a great bloke and has managed the band well. I hope the band succeeds without him but I doubt it very much. Dan is what makes the band different. Good luck to you tho Dan, I think you will be a good promoter and manager for any band you take on. Very sad for us tho.

Absolutely gutted not to see Dan at Download. Didn't know the facts? Dan and Liam used to compliment each other so well that I fear for the future. Go Now and Live is the best album of 2011 by a mile. Still looking forward to the new album though.

Absolutely gutted, the 2 vocal styles complimented each other perfectly in the way the songs were written and recorded, it will be a struggle for this to come across in future live performances, but looking forward to new material to be produced.

Saw them at download and sad to report that it was terrible. what makes this band work is the two singers that compliment each other. i am a big fan of WATO and i hope that they can develop. Bleed the new single wasn't bad and probably the only song that was delivered with confidence on the day. good luck for the future

In my opinion nothing was a patch on their first EP, where Dan actually screamed. On further releases, his vocals were mostly shouting.

For all the people saying that the band is just like every other band now, you are so wrong. Sure Dan was a different vocalist then other bands but so is Liam! listen to other bands and tell me if you find any other singer that sounds like Liam ... i'll save you some time, THERE ISN'T ANY!!
