My Chemical Romance break up

My Chemical Romance have announced that they are to split via a blog post on their website. Read the the band's statement in full:

"Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.
My Chemical Romance."

Additionally clarifying that the break up had nothing to do with his relationship in response to speculation circulating about his personal life:

I cant believe it. I love mcr. They played in cardiff a while ago and my dad wouldn't let me go. He said you'll be able to see them another time. I cant believe I'm never going to get to see them now. :'( this sucks. I was talking about MCR earlier. I fucking love them and I always will. I dont even no What to do now. </3

Being a fan for almost a decade and running one of the biggest MCR fansites for over 7 years, this news will have a big impact on my life.
That said, I dont find it massively surprising with the way the band has gone over the past couple of years. I think its the right decision to call it a day now rather than fake it or become anything unnatural. They will be greatly missed but their music has left an impact. It was an integral part of my youth and has contributed massively to who I am. Most of all I think we should thanks each other (the fans), we had a blast didn't we?!

If it wasnt for My Chemical Romance i wouldnt be following my dream on the road to becoming a music journaist.
I wouldn't be the person i am today. They inspired me to live without judgement, to create and use fiction as a way of exressing yourself because soemtimes fiction is the best metaphor. To see both the darkness and beauty in life and to find music i unconditionally loved.

If it wasnt for them my life would be on a completley different track and i would undoubtably be miserable.

My only regrets are that my dreams will regretfully remain unfufilled. I will never get to interview the band that saved my life.

I don't really know what to say. I haven't stoppped crying since i found out. I don't think numb os the right word for it. Not a nice thing to wake up to either. I haven't stopped shaking.

If it wasn't for MCR i wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have my MCR tattoos that have kept me going and i wouldn't be the person i am today because of them so i have to thank them for that.

I'm just gutted that i didnt get to meet them

They will still be my favourite band forever...I'll never get to see them in concert or get to hear a new song by them. But it wasn't for MCR I wouldn't be here today. They have been such and insperation to me....I love you guys <\3

They have inspired so many people, including myself. They helped me through hard times, this I will always be thankful for. My Chemical Romance will never be forgotton, they have a legacy, they're fans. They have inspired people and made them who they are today. All I can say is that they're a hard act to follow. To the next band, you've got big boots to fill..

I am beyond heartbroken, it's like my hearts been ripped out of my chest and I can't stop crying. They have been one of my favourite bands for nearly 9 years and i never had the opportunity to see them live, meet them or even just get to thank them for getting me through this far, i don't know how im going to make it through without them. 2001 - 2013

My Chemical Romance are the only band that have been there for me, I owe my lives to them. Now that they're gone, I have no idea what I'm going to do, it's gong to kill me to let go of this, but they're the reason I'm where I am now. They may not be together any more but I will never forget their music and what it has done for me.

My Chemical Romance has helped me through my mental health problems and kept me going whilst I was at my worst in a physiatric hospital. So with that all I can really say is 'Cheers!'

Well done for everything you achieved guys. Black Parade was such an influential album and such a brilliant live tour too. So pleased I saw MCR so many times - even though I reckon I was the eldest there.

MCR were and still are important figures in my life. They were the ones who's music got me through the toughest times where i doubted myself and my existence. But, because of them I'm still here and i carried on because i believed that if they can survive as a band and as people, then so can i. It was my one and only goal to be able to see MCR live in concert and meet them to thank them for everything and now ill never achieve my one goal in life. Thank you MCR for saving me. Keep running xo

Genuinely could not be more devestated about this. They are one of the biggest impacts anything has ever had on my life. I really put faith into those four people (and whoever their dummer was at the time, because lets face it, that changed a lot) and they've kind of just let us down. But hopefully one day they might explain why, and I hope they're all happy with their wives and children. Their memory will carry on.

Literally just woke up and saw this. Gutted that I never got to see them live, and probably won't now. MCR will never die whilst we have their music though, so stop crying some of you! Every good thing must come to an end, but it isn't the end yet, not while people still listen to their music. :)

I'm in complete shock.
MCR are the band that really got me into rock music. And as much of a cliche as it is now, some of they're songs truly inspired me and encouraged me to carry on going. The Black Parade is probably the album that influenced me over everything else.
They were a band that I imagined growing going further and writing endless albums.. But as they say, all good things come to an end.
This is so sad! :c

I owe my love of rock music to mcr !!! Since I was little and their first album came out I have been such a strong fan !!! There music inspired and encouraged me and over these last few years has really helped me when others couldn't x I would like to say thankyou to mcr for everything they have done for me for music and for every other member of the mcarmy and all the killjoys x so long and goodnight to u all x

Only just found out about this :( I can't say I'm one of their greatest fans as I'm not but MCR were I very influential band when I was around 12-14. I still love all of their songs today and I really wish I had the chance to see them in concert. However that wish will not be fulfilled but I think the band have made the right choice. We still have their 12 years of music to listen to and look back on so we all need to stop crying and team together to make sure they never fade away as a band. Even though they may not be a band anymore their music will live on forever and continue to give me and everyone else strength.

I am saddened by this, mcr did really safe my life as I was growing up, their music made me want to carry on and fight through all of the tough times that I had. They will always have a special place in my heart, in my life, I have had the pleasure of seeing them live many of times, thank you for saving my life! and have many have already said; 'keep running!' Get a grip everyone, I'm sad and shocked that MCR have split up and I'm over 40. Every generation will have a band that had meant something to them I know I did, their music will always be there and I am sure they will carry on with music somehow but in a different way.

What worries me the most is the amount suicides this news would cause. My Chemical Romance saved lifes. Now them breaking up could cause suicide.

I love my chemical romance, they saved my life and I cannot thank them enough. Im praying that they'll do a Fall Out Boy and return in several years.

I'm fucking distraught right now. This band has been the most consistently wonderful thing in my life for so long, I thought itbwould be one of those bands I could take my kids along to see one day.
I wouldnt want them to carry on and become fake however, I guess this way they are immortally preserved as great.
Having said that, I'm not ready for this.

My Chemical Romance were there for me when no one else was. They saved my life and made me who I am. They brought me my best friend and they helped/help me through a mental illness. They kept me going every day and now in the blink of an eye they're gone. They are my heroes and I never even got see them live or meet them to thank them. I am so grateful for everything they have done but at the same time, I am now heartbroken and I can't stop crying and I just want to hibernate in my bed forever and never talk to anyone ever again. They were the ones that helped me through shit and now who have I got? True, their music will still live on but nothing will ever be the same now they're not a band and I just don't see the point in anything anymore. Thank you for saving me MCR but at the same time, you didn't need to do this to me or leave in such a hurtful way. It feels like someone just ripped my heart out. Im heart broken they were what inspired me to be different my firsts ever 'alternative' song I listener to was Helena and for the past 5 years I have loved them and now it's over .

I am devastated.. That's all I can say. They have helped me through every bad thing in my life and now I know they have broken up I literally do feel numb inside.. This is horrible. MCR was one of those bands that got me through the awkward years of my life and helped me become who I am today. I can't believe they actually broke up. I wish all of them the best, but I still wish I could have seen them live at some point :c

Why? I don't what to say other than we need them. They understood us more than family and were always there for us. When they sang their songs we knew they ment it. They had been through it all and because of them we knew it would be all ok, everthing would be fine. WHY??

They were the only thing keeping me sain inside my insanity. Everytime I felt myself slipping I would listen to their songs and I would be able to get all my fingers back onto life and hold on. I don't know.

Kerrang's gonna get sick of me but....I just heard The Pretenders 'I'll stand by you' and it may me cry, they stend by us no matter what and always will. bit of an end of an era i guess,like most people here i listened to MCR a lot when i was about 13-15 and they made an impact on music , id say in my opinion its a good decision for them to call it a day now, but ive got nothing but respect for them.

Hearing the news this morning was not the best way to wake up, MCR were the first band I ever properly got into, and almost 8 years on they are still undoubtedly my favourite ever band. Saying that, I think this may be a good thing, I didn't really like the direction their music was heading, so maybe it's good they quit while they were ahead, i'm not sure. Still, I can't lie I feel pretty gutted now.. I owe MCR a lot and I wish them all the best in the future.

My Chem was the first gig I ever went to, I was 13 and it was in Cardiff Wales.
I'm gutted to hear this, they where and still are my inspiration. They'll always be my favorite band. Maybe someday in the future they'll do a come back tour like Fall Out Boy...Well I hope so anyway! :(

I cannot believe how people have been massively surprised by the my chemical romance split. Reality check,the band said goodbye on last uk tour every night,said thank you to everyone involved and thanked everyone for being on the adventure with them.Anyone who actually listened to the guys knew it was coming to an end.Celebrate the music,and memories.But it really is a time to move on.They have grown up in the public eye,let them have their lives now.The solo projects will come,so it's not the end of everything,no one has died,it's just another band coming to an end

Even though there was a lot of clues about potential break ups I still can't believe it. They've been my favourite band for years now and to know that the end is here is just devastating. I never even got to see them live. I hope they give us more as to why they broke up. For a band that has influenced thousands, we deserve to know more of the reasons.

Where to begin......

I am honestly devastated that MCR have decided to break up. I'm frankly numb from the shock and suddenness of it all. What happend to the new album? Why isn't there any explanation as to the break up?

To me and so many others they are more than a band. They are a part of me that been with them for years someone that belted out I'm not okay, that marched with the black parade and made noise as a killjoy. Most importantly they helped when others couldn't, they were like a crutch to prop me up when times where bad!

I'm beyond grateful for everything they have given me. I had the absolute pleasure of seeing them 6 times, in stadiums and festivals and smaller more intimate gigs that will be the best ones of my life. They have me music that will stay with me for a life time and that makes be so happy!!!

I wish them all the best for whatever they do and say they are welcome back whenever.

MCR it's been a pleasure but for now so long and goodnight.

MCR saved my life and got me into rock music. They kept me going through all the tough times and the happy times. It was a shock at first, but I respect their decision. They exploded onto the scene and left , thousands of adoring fans and fantastic music in their wake. And they did what they set out to do; they saved lives. I wish them all good luck in their lives. But, as a soldier of the MCRmy, I'll help make sure that no one forgets the Amazing Awesomeness that was My Chemical Romance.

Mcr were the band that brought me in to rock and now they're gone my life feels empty I went on Facebook to people saying mcr split up I was shocked I started to cry as I now know I have to walk on this earth alone without them. All their fans were saved by these amazing men I am so upset and grateful for what they have done.if it wasn't for this amazing band I dont know what I'd be like now they saved many peoples lives. I have been crying my eyes out for most of the day, even though they said it's the end, I just can't bring my self to believe it. I keep hoping that their website got hacked, or something like that and then everyone would just forget about it, and they'd continue as normal afterwards. MCR have saved so many lives, one of the reasons I'm still here today is because of them, even though all the adventures are over, the MCRmy will still live on...

There are no words for how I am feeling right now. My Chem has always been there for me. They literally were by far my favorite band. I have every song by them on my ipod, own 5 MCR shirts, and have drawn so many pictures of the band. My best friend and I were going to go see My Chemical Romance in concert for the first time, meet Gerard, Ray, Frank, and Mikey, and tell them how important and special they are to our hearts and how their music has impacted our lives. Ray and Frank were the reasons why I am playing guitar. My Chem is the reason why when I get my first job it is going to have something to do with music. They are the reasons why I want to start a band and be heroes just like they are. But I will NEVER stop listening to them, NEVER stop drawing pictures, reading fanfiction, and I most importantly will NEVER forget them. Thank you My Chemical Romance for everything. You guys have truly inspired my lives and thousands of others. Their memory will carry on because they are the kids from yesterday <3

There is nothing i can really do atm. And as pathetic as i feel crying over a band i cant help it. I found my chemical romance three years ago when my nan had died. It was destressed and fed up and my chemical romance helped me through it. Through all the things that happend in my life my chemical romance had helped me. They taught me not to be affraid to stand alone when noone else will stand with you and to make the most of life and to not let people shut you out and keep you down. They helped me through the most dificult times and have inspierd me to write and sing and to never back down or give up. My chemical romance was there when noone else was. I have never seen them live and i wish i did. I abosolutly love them and have so much to thank them for but i cant fit itnto words. All i can say is thank you. Thankyou gerard, mikey, ray and frank. I have literally been crying since they posted that on their blog.. They saved me from killing myself and they are all I had.. I love them so much. I wish there was more explanation pertaining to why they broke up. I can't deal with this..

I remember the first time heard about my chemical romance i was little freaked out about them, but i got older i really got into them. Black Parade was my first rock CD ever . I love pretty much every song they every made i just the have a blessed life . The ride was good.

wish they would've given us a bit of a warning, i'm not so much sad that they've split but more in shock. i was under the impression they were recording an album so it's a bit of a slap in the face. but i wish the band all the best and give my love to the MCR community. xxxxx

Despite not being a long time fan, I was terribly disheartened to hear that the band had decided to conclude their music career. Still, I respect their choice and wish them nothing but the best, considering that they've done so for their fans for many years. Although I do not exaggerantly proclaim that they've "saved my life" with their music, I must say that My Chemical Romance greatly influenced both who I was and who I am today. Strange as it seems, I was all but deaf to music. Hearing Na Na Na for the first time invoked something my life was desperately lacking: rebellion. The song was likely to be only thing that had ever appealed to me, and that's an experience you can never forget. At this point, I was a shell of a person, one who breathed but never really lived. MCR was a loud, empowing, and down right spirited emotion that I am glad to have been a part of. They changed me so that I was able to examine my life and wonder: Who am I? For once, I was actively involved in my own lifestyle, and it was a thrill beyond compare. I made dreams, ambitions, and decisions, and not all of them were necessarily good ones. But, it never mattered because I actually felt something. I was finally living. In my opinion, that was all the band was ever about. Call it freedom, independence, individuality, or my Aunt Sally, their words and their music gave me something. And as long as that stands, My Chemical Romance will never truly die.

guys don't worry they will be back at some point. Its happened to a lot of bands. Like fans they get older have families, do other things etc. They are the same. I'm not a big fan of MCR. Really liked Three Cheers and a bit of Black Parade though. Enjoy the music , dvds etc. I was a huge fan and still am of Nirvana. I remember when Kurt died when i was at school at 15. That really hit everyone . Fortunately no horrific tragedy has happened here and you can look forward to shows in the future. I'm sure of it. Best wishes to the fans at this moment in time

People are allowed to feel heartbroken! MCR was a huge part of thousands of lives and so people are going to be upset! Clearly they didn't mean that much to you but for us we looked up to them.
there's nothing we can do but maybe pray for some sort of miracle? i loved that band like they were my best friends and now i feel like i've been dumped horrible but what can i do?
i love them so much and thank them for making my life a little brighter!

so shut up Si, its clear YOU need to grow up and learn some respect!

Guys, don't you think it's odd how after 12 years they'd leave us with just an 85 word blog post? Nothing has been said on their official Twitter, nothing has been said on their Facebook, none of the members have changed their bios or even sent a tweet with anything meaning the same as 'We have split.' It's possible that their website got hacked, that's the only thing that says they've split. The only thing. Keep the faith guys.

Mcr saved lives and then called it a day the MCRmy are all gutted and upset
Saved my life a few years ago I'm very grateful sad though there will not be new albums or music but they will always live on.

So can I just say a massive thank you to all of mcr for saving many peoples lives

Although I've cried a lot I would like to say R.I.P to those people who killed themselves last night and yesterday

WHAT THE FUCK?!?! If people are disappointed then fine, just stop wallowing in self pity and acting as though something tragic has occurred. It's not been outlawed to listen to their music or anything, it just means there's gonna be no new music or tours till they decide to cash in and do a reunion. And no, attention seeking cretins threatening to self harm just cos a band split don't deserve any respect. Get over yourself.

Some of my favourite bands have broken up in my lifetime, bands that have meant a lot to me. I might spend a day a bit disappointed but guess what? THEY'RE A BLOODY BAND!!! So get over it!!! They will all do solo shit, none of them have died or anything. If MCR splitting is the worst thing in your life you are very lucky not to have any real problems.

Si speaks a lot of sense. I love MCR and am disappointed that they have split up. However. They never saved me from anything and the world won't be a worse place because they are gone. Ill continue to play their records and enjoy them. I have a life and intend living it. It does not revolve around any band splitting up. There are kids around the world starving to death, being abused etc. so get it into some kind of perspective.

I too like MCR and had the pleasure of seeing them live two years ago. I am disappointed that this is the end of the road for them . But I will continue to breathe, eat, shit, piss, get drunk, watch TV etc for the rest of my life. Like Ed, I will carry on as normal. There are FAR more serious things in the world to be upset about.

MCR totally distanced themselves from the Emo thing and NEVER promoted themselves as promotors of Suicude or slit wristing etc. So the thick-as-shit, insensitive, crass, ill-thought-out comments presented by the likes of Abbie and Puma only serve to fuel the media and put the MCR name back by years. So as Si says, grow up, your comments are fucking useless and proper fans will put as much distance as possible between your self indulgent tirades as possible.

MCR have split up. I love the band. But this afternoon I'm playing rugby and ill have a few pints after the match. Life goes on.

I can understand the feelings of disappointment and sadness when a band you love splits up but people posting on this really need to get a grip. This is not the end of the world and by the sounds of things no need to commit suicide.

Give it a couple of years and when their money has dried up (which it no doubt will) they'll do their big reunion just like what Fall Out Boy have done.

my sister listens to them and has she ever slit her wrists no I don't think so. so whoever thinks they do they clearly don't just because they are different to most bands and the people who don't listen to then think that they are an emo band when yes emos do listen to them but most fans are normal people with a different sense of taste of music...!!!

Just because you decided not to kill yourself because you were listening to MCR does not mean they've "saved your life".

That's like me saying i decided not to eat my shoes today because I was listening to Elvis. He saved my footwear.

Saving your life would involve pulling you from a burning building or giving you treatment for cancer. Or I can even understand providing you with counselling if you were genuinely suicidal. But MCR did none of these things. They recorded some albums that you have interpreted as saving your life when reality is they've no idea you were ever even born. The only threat to your life is a thinly disguised viel of attention seeking teenage angst. Was your life ever REALLY in danger? in 99% of cases this will be a resounding "NO". But for some ridiculous reason suicide seems to be fashionable amoung a particular group of fans. You are very silly children.

To those people who say we are sad or lame for getting so upset of them splitting up I think I can speak for all of us when I say we arnt upset you say those things as you obviously don't understand how much of a difference they've made in people's lives! To the hater of Black Veil Brides who said it should've been them istead of MCR. Both were and still are great andf talented bands who have hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide.
