Exclusive: Big Business Invite You To Peel Off Your Human Costume and Check Out Their New Record

The heavy-hitting goofball twosome known as Big Business have long pushed back against the attempts to categorize them in any rock sub-genre. Many dub them sludge, some just give up and call it heavy rock -- but the cheeky fellas of Big Biz make a joke of the whole concept, referring to themselves as “gold metal.” Whatever you want to call them, at the end of the day, the two dudes have been playing their heavy, fun, catchy brand of weirdo metal for 15 years -- ever since they met in Seattle when drummer Coady Willis was still in Murder City Devils and bassist Jared Warren was in KARP. The two have not only put out five records together, they’ve also filled in as the other half of the Melvins on a bunch of records, starting with 2006’s (A) Senile Animal.

This Friday, Big Business will release their sixth record, The Beast You Are. And as is customary for a Big Business record, it’s an infectious album with endless heavy grooves (after all, they are an entire standalone rhythm section) tinged with synthy, almost melancholy darkness.

Rather than try to introduce it to you ourselves, here’s the good word straight from the dudes:

“Jared and Coady humbly submit unto you their sixth full-length album. It’s all yours now, isn’t that great?! It’s a cosmic sweepstakes, all are eligible. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you want, or what you’re willing to do to get it. If you just let the Biz do the driving for the next 45 minutes or so, you could win an all-inclusive vacation from this spacetime ghetto we’ve been forced to subjectively experience. Enter as often as you like, peel off that smelly old human costume and relax, bud! You’re a gorgeous beast.”

The Beast You Are drops this Friday, April 12th, via Joyful Noise Recordings, and is already available for preorder.
