And you should be excited about going too!

DRI Are Excited About Playing Rebellion Fest

Rebellion Fest is August 2-5 at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, UK. If you're an old punk, or even a young punk, it's set to be a decent (extended) weekend: Stiff Little Fingers, Buzzcocks, The Exploited, Cockney Rejects, The Adicts, Peter Hook & The Light, Idles, Michael Monroe, Angelic Upstarts, Discharge, The Vandals, Ruts DC, UK Subs, GBH, Lagwagon and Slaughter & The Dogs, The Adolescents, Toxic Reasons, The Stupids, Raw Power... Need we go on?

We're particularly excited for crossover legends DRI, who are playing on the Sunday evening. Vocalist Kurt Brecht is a man of few words, but we asked him some questions anyway:

How does it feel to still be doing this 36 years after you formed the band?
We feel lucky! We always appreciate being asked to play anywhere but especially the festivals!

You've got the best logo in punk rock! did Eric Brecht really get an A for it in a high school art assignment?
Actually it was art school and he did not get an A. The original drawing sported a mohawk and an ANTI sign. So really it was an anti slam dancing sign.

You're known for… crossing over. Who are best: the punks, the metalheads or the hardcore kids?
That's a tuff one. I never really thought about it. Usually they are all sort of mixed in at our shows unless we are playing Punk Rock Bowling or something specific like that. I can't really say I prefer one over the other.

When are you gonna do a new full length?! It's been 23 years!
Not sure about that.

Are you psyched for Rebellion?
Oh yeah! I only hope we are there long enough to see some other bands!

Thanks Kurt! See you in the pit!
