Korn Are Going To Perform A Virtual Gig In A Video Game

Well… this is something that doesn't happen every day. Next week Korn are set to perform a virtual gig within the multiplayer video games AdventureQuest 3D and AQWorlds.

The show will launch the games' Battle Concert Arena, and will not only see Jonathan Davis and co. unveiling a new song from upcoming album The Nothing within it, but also apparently allow the players to "fight monsters" and "score loot" simultaneously. Badass.

A statement from the developers reads:

"Get in the most brutal mosh-pit ever… and make video game history! Korn is playing the grand opening of the Battle Concert Arena in the massively multiplayer games, AdventureQuest 3D and AQWorlds. The band will play onstage while you fight monsters, score loot, and hear a new song from Korn's upcoming album… The Nothing."

It begins on August 20. See more info here.

Of course, frontman Jonathan is a huge gamer anyway – something he talked about when he stopped by Kerrang!'s London HQ recently for our In Conversation series:

The Nothing is due out on September 13 via Roadrunner Records.

Speaking to Kerrang!, Jonathan revealed that the record will be Korn's darkest ever, written in response to his wife's death.

“Life has been very dark, so it was just me going through the grieving process with losing my wife," he said. "It was hard. I haven’t had a chance to reach my full potential on Korn records for years, because I’ve always been so busy with stuff at home – taking care of my son Zeppelin, who’s got type 1 diabetes, and Deven had really bad mental illness that I was hiding and dealing with. I did the best I could, but I never could put myself 100 per cent into [recording].

“Sitting down and working out what I was going to do with this record was a process, and this is the longest I’ve ever taken making a record. I went through working with a producer, different engineers and shit, and I finally got fed up. I’m like, ‘Fuck you all, just leave me alone; when it’s done it’s done and I’ll give you it.’ So it was just me and an engineer. I did it myself and it was a very cathartic, dark experience.”

Korn are currently touring North America with Alice In Chains.
