Metallica And Krist Novoselic Amongst Artists Supporting Special Suicide Prevention Broadcast

Former Nirvana man Krist Novoselic, Metallica, rapper Logic and pop performer Halsey are amongst the artists coming together for a special I’m Listening broadcast, set for September 10 – World Suicide Prevention Day.

As Rolling Stone reports, these artists and more will participate in the two-hour broadcast, aimed at raising awareness of mental health concerns and the signs of suicidal behaviour. The broadcast is being organised by Entercom.

Alice In Chains’ William DuVall, Disturbed’s David Draiman and Bleachers' Jack Antonoff are some of the other artists from the rock world getting involved. During the broadcast, musicians will share their own, personal stories about mental health obstacles they’ve had to overcome, and the show will include resources for those seeking help, for themselves or others. It’ll feature discussions on how to broach the topic in the first place with friends and family, and how to get involved with suicide prevention efforts.

“Depression, coupled with other factors, can be lethal,” Novoselic commented, reinforcing recent remarks by former Nirvana bandmate Dave Grohl. “Mental health conditions are underrated, and I’m pleased to be part of the I’m Listening campaign, to help educate the community.”
