A month on from the 45th Kennedy
Center Honors, an official, full version of Eddie Vedder’s live performance of
One has hit the internet.
The Pearl Jam frontman tackled U2’s
classic single – taken from 1991’s Achtung Baby album – as the Irish rock
legends were given the lifetime artistic achievement honour for their ‘contributions
to American culture’ on December 4.
Of course, as well as his typically
excellent rendition which you can watch below, Eddie has (hopefully) been busy working on a new Pearl Jam
record – the follow-up to Gigaton. Last month, guitarist and songwriter
Stone Gossard revealed that the band have “got demos for days”, with “songs
that are getting close to being done” and also “a bunch that aren’t”.
“Everybody writes in the band, so
now it’s really just trying to figure out what’s something different for us and
what’s something exciting,” he said, while also adding that “it’s gonna be 2024
before the record comes out, is my guess. But we’re working on it.”
