11-year-old rocks out on guitar with Green Day at Hella Mega Tour

See awesome young rocker Meyer join Green Day onstage for a cover of Operation Ivy's Knowledge on the Hella Mega Tour.

One of the most heartwarming parts of every Green Day show is when the band invite a fan onstage to play guitar with them – and their Hella Mega Tour stop at the Hersheypark Stadium on August 13 was no exception.

Young rocker Meyer (who is just 11 years old, according to Reddit), joined Billie Joe Armstrong and co. later on the set – in-between colossal hits Minority and Basket Case – to help perform Operation Ivy's Knowledge, a punk favourite that the trio have been covering since their very early days. And Meyer absolutely nailed it.

In the YouTube comments of a great video of the performance (captured by Jim Powers), Mike Gordon writes: "That’s my boy, Meyer!!! He’s been practicing and jamming Green Day throughout the pandemic. Hours each day.

"They are his favourite, but he also loves to play Nirvana, Pumpkins, Foo, Blink and Rage Against The Machine. Proof positive that hard work and dedication to your passion, with a little luck sprinkled in, can make dreams come true. SO FUCKING PROUD. Much gratitude to Billie Joe, Mike and [Tré] for being such gracious rock stars. Best show ever! Thank you, Hershey, PA!"

Absolutely awesome.

Jim also captured the same moment earlier on in the tour in Washington, D.C. on August 8 – watch that below:
