Code Orange Livestream Their Record Release Show From An Empty Venue

Rather than leave their fans hanging in the wake of COVID-19, Code Orange used Twitch to livestream their album release show.

With the mounting need for quarantine in the wake of coronavirus, most tours, large events, and music and movie release dates have been postponed until later in the year. But especially harmed during this pandemic are those artists whose long-awaited new albums are now dropping after months of build-up, only to be overshadowed by the constantly breaking news and state of emergency. Thankfully, one such band, nu-core giants Code Orange, decided that rather than leave fans with nothing, they'd livestream their record release show via Twitch, even at an empty venue.

Code Orange's album release show for their new studio effort Underneath was scheduled to go down at the Roxian in their hometown of Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, the show was canceled due to coronavirus -- or at least fan attendance was. So to make up for it, the band used Twitch to livestream a performance of their set to an empty venue. The band titled this performance Last Ones Left, seemingly in reference to so many other shows and tours being canceled.

"Things feel cold, ruthless, noisey, confusing and disconnected," the band said in a statement. "But we all must refuse to tap out. and that brings us too…

"You can stream the show on TWITCH and you will be able to contribute if you feel like it/are able," they continued. "You will also be able to purchase the exclusive merch and record release records that we were sitting on for the show. A lot of really cool stuff that we designed ourselves. If you choose to do so – it will be very appreciated – and will help keep our heads above water.

"If you have tickets to the Pittsburgh show you can get a refund at point of purchase. That show WILL be rescheduled. If you hang onto your ticket it will be good for whenever this thing lets up and we are able.

"Let this be known: we love and respect you all and we hope you can enjoy this record."
