Slipknot's Tortilla Man Split His Face Open Onstage

In a new interview, Corey Taylor revealed that Slipknot's new percussionist is "the pube in the coke."

The new percussionist of Slipknot, known colloquially as Tortilla Man, has been the subject of some controversy in the past year. Fans have done their damnedest to prove his identity (spoiler: it's Gilbert Godfried), while many others have just given themselves over to Tortilla Mania. Now, in a recent interview, frontman Corey Taylor has revealed that Tortilla Man is as crazy as he seems -- and that he split his face open on Jay Weinberg's drums.

Speaking to Rock Antennae, Corey said, “You have to be careful of the new guy – new guy gets crazy. like, the new guy almost got docked some money because he almost broke Jay [Weinberg]’s drums the other night. Like, he’s the fly in the ointment, he’s the pube in the coke."

Let's pause for a moment and acknowledge the use of the phrase the pube in the coke. Moving on:

"I was, like, every time I turn around, he’s doing something weird," continued Corey, "so I started chasing him just to make sure I’m keeping track of his habits and shit."

When pressed further, it appears that Tortilla Man is already causing himself permanent physical damage onstage -- including a scar on his face from where he bashed his head into his drums and split his face open.

“He’s fucking his face up, which I think is funny," says Corey. "He’s got a giant scar right in the middle of his forehead now because he smashed his head into the drums and cut it open. He was bleeding during the show, so he had to pull the mask off during the show and they’re bandaging him up. He looked like he’s just been to war, and now he’s got a scar in the middle of his forehead – looks like a coin slot. [Laughs]”
