Deftones’ Stef Carpenter to sit out of UK / European tour: “I’m just not ready to leave home and leave the country yet”

Stef Carpenter has announced that he’ll be replaced on guitar for Deftones’ upcoming UK and European dates by the band’s friend Lance, as he has “decided to remain playing domestically for now”.

Deftones guitarist Stephen 'Stef' Carpenter has announced that he'll be missing the band's upcoming UK and European tour dates this summer.

In a video alongside his replacement for these shows – "our good friend from Sacramento, Lance" – Stef writes in a statement that: "As much as I would love to be on the road with my brothers, playing for all of our incredible international fans, I have decided to remain playing domestically for now. With everything going on in the world, I’m just not ready to leave home and leave the country yet.

"I wish I can see each and every one of you, but for now, our good friend from Sacramento, Lance, will be fulfilling my duties. Although I’m watching from afar, I’ll be there in spirit with my Deftones family."

Catch Deftones at Download Festival from June 10-12. Get your tickets now.
