Judas Priest announce massive 50 Metal Years book

What’s more metal than a Judas Priest photo book? One with a metal cover, obvs…

Good news for fans of both heavy metal and heavy books: Judas Priest have announced the publication of a massive, 648-page coffee table photo collection for release in January. Which, we say, is 18 too few.

Featuring photos from legendary photographers like Ross Halfin, Neil Zlozower, Mark Weiss, Fin Costello, Oliver Halfin and more, Judas Priest – 50 Metal Years tells the story of the legendary Metal Gods through the lens, with written contributions from the band themselves. As frontman Rob Halford himself puts it, “The photographs in this book capture the life of Judas Priest in all our glory!”

The book is available for pre-order now, with four versions available. You can go standard or go for a signed, deluxe version, but for real metal maniacs, there are two editions even more special than this. First, there’s The Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation Charity Edition, limited to 100 copies in a special blue cover and fully signed, all proceeds from which will go to the Priest guitarist’s Parkinson’s charity. And finally, the big boy, The Epic Leather and Metal Edition, which has a padded leather cover AND A METAL SLEEVE. You love to see it.

Rob Halford recently revealed that the band have been getting busy on song ideas for when normal service can resume. And, he added, rather than letting the pandemic get them down, it’s only made them more determined to keep forging forward as ever. “The music we make has always been strong and full of optimism,” he told Phoenix New Times. “Priest has been dealing with that as long as I remember.”
