Lzzy Hale Is Using Coronavirus Lockdown To Tweak New Halestorm Songs

Halestorm's Lzzy Hale is going to be working on the band's new material while we're all stuck at home right now.

Lzzy Hale has revealed that she'll be spending some of her time in quarantine tweaking and fine-tuning material for the new Halestorm album.

The Pennsylvania hard-rock titans had already made fairly good progress on the follow-up to 2018's Vicious before the coronavirus pandemic shut everything down, having planned to regroup to start pre-production with producer Nick Raskulinecz. And while that has of course been put on pause with the world going into lockdown, Lzzy now plans to use her downtime wisely.

“I'm more or less using it to my advantage,” she tells SiriusXM's Trunk Nation (via Blabbermouth). “Because now all I have to do is top whatever I've been writing and make sure I have enough content for when this actually all starts happening again that we can raise that bar [as we did] with Vicious.”

Interestingly, it sounds as though the lyrical content of this new album could now be reworked, with Lzzy wanting to discuss different topics since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The weirdest thing is how now the subject matter has kind of changed,” she continued. “With writing lyrics, there's a bunch of different things that I think I was really excited about or into a couple of weeks ago, and now, I don't know… lyrics mean something different now.

“We were doing this Twitch performance yesterday to raise money for this relief fund for medical people and also trying to raise money for maybe eventually getting a vaccine… We performed two songs — one of our songs was The Silence off of Vicious and the other one was Here's To Us. And it's amazing how as I was singing these lyrics, all of a sudden, it just means something completely different than what it was a couple of weeks ago.

“And so I'm approaching that with almost this – excitement, yes, but also I feel like I'm just observing the world in a different way. So I might actually end up… even the songs that I thought that were worthy of the record a couple of weeks ago, I might just have to trash those for now and just start again.”

Last month, Lzzy took to social media to post an inspiring message to her followers about coronavirus, writing: “Be thankful if your only hardship in this whole thing is that you’re bored, or have to pinch pennies for a while until this blows over. Because there are people right now that you don’t know, and even some that you do know that are fighting to remain healthy and live through all of this. Don’t be part of the problem.

“Go lick your toilet seat if you want to prove how “unafraid” you are of viruses… then go be creative, write a song, write a book, practice your instrument, perform via insta live, discover new music, learn a new skill, watch movies, play card games etc. We are extremely fortunate to live in the age of the internet, where we are able to be social, connect, encourage each other, and keep the ball somewhat rolling until things settle down. It’s important to remember that we are all in this together!”
