Metallica Have Launched A New Weekly Online Gig Series

Metallica will be streaming full sets online every Monday for fans who need "to take a break from Netflix before you binge-watch the entire library".

Joining the growing list of bands coming up with new and exciting ways to help cure fans' boredom during self-isolation amid the coronavirus pandemic, Metallica have just announced a new weekly concert series.

Every Monday – which will be appropriately titled #MetallicaMondays – the metal heroes will be unveiling a full concert stream via their YouTube channel and Facebook page, with the first killer set already out there: the band's performance at Slane Castle from June 8, 2019.

"Need to take a break from Netflix before you binge-watch the entire library?" Metallica say. "Introducing our brand new concert series: #MetallicaMondays, debuting tonight on our YouTube channel and on Facebook!"

It has to be said, the Slane Castle gig is a brilliant way to kick things off, with an 18-song setlist consisting of mega-hits like Sad But True, Master Of Puppets and One, but also newer favourites like Spit Out The Bone and Moth Into Flame.

As well as the new weekly series, Metallica have posted an extended message to fans – or 'Update from the bunker', as they've titled it – about what they're all doing right now, their future gigs, as well sending their love to everyone "during these trying times".

"Here’s to looking back on this period soon with a renewed appreciation for all the amazing times together with our extended Metallica Family around the world," they say. "For now, go hang with your significant others, kids, pets, parents… whomever you have in your space. Create your playlists, watch some movies, try some old-fashioned board games, and most importantly, stay safe. We’ll keep in touch!"
